    2 more sleeps!!

The last 6 months have been a whirlwind and in a way I am still in June so when I wake up to presents on Saturday morning it will be quite a shock!!

I am really looking forward to Christmas and spending some quality time with family and friends.

I never thought I would be one of those people who would have to deal with cancer in my life as it was never going to happen to me. But it arrived and although it is not easy with fantastic support from husband, who is just the best, my parents and my friends...

  • Nearly a year on, why still so angry!!!
    Still angry

Well my counselor is over tonight within minutes, so this will be a quick blog.  I have been really feeling the pull these last two weeks.  Everyone getting merry and talking of spending times with their mums and then bang, my heart drops as I realise I will never get that again.  Why is it all the talking in the world helps at the time and then you hit these god awlful milestones -such as christmas.

I am looking forward to it do not get me wrong, but in a different way to anyone else that has not...

    Trials and Tribulations

Had my EUA on Monday and spoke to the consultant before we left. Good news is that it looks like although there is still residual cancer in the cervix it is confined to there only and can be removed. On removal I will loose some of my bowel and will have to have a temporary stoma but they are hoping to reverse this some months down the line when the swelling and radiotherapy damage has gone down.

They think that they can save my bladder and although I will be in hospital for 3 weeks and it will be...

    New here

    First entry....

    Why am I here?

Father was diagnosed with bladder cancer about 5 years ago, urectomy was not an option so they did TURBT with Mytomycin treatement, followed by intensive (37 sessions) of radiotherapy.

He has had regular cystoscopies, and had one more mini-TURBT and Mytomycin, but recently (3-4 weeks ago) had a cystoscopy and was told he needs a full TURBT. Rather concerned as he cannot have a urectomy becuase of other health problems (he is 89 and had a stent fitted because of...

  • my story so far, scary but happy.
    i almost died
I had my simple lymph node removal and biopsy friday. Because my immune system sucks from this mystery illness/cancer I got a rare and aggressive bacterial infection. Within 24 hours I was in the ER with a rash all over my upper body that looked like a sunburn and a fever of 102. The opened the incision and found a decent amount of necrosis so they rushed me to the OR. The cut out all the dead tissue and packed it with gauze. In the OR my bp dropped below 75/35 and I became takychardic(sp?). I was...

Well on my last blog things were going great but as we all know this terrible disease can change things fast. My pops took poorly and is in alot of pain, ive had the doctor out who upped his morphine so pops sleeping alot at the moment. • Let me be scared
    Thoughts from the chemo mist.

This is not going to be happy or uplifting, informative of even useful but a self-centered piece of rambling - but sorrry I need to write this down.

I know how lucky I have been so far and that what I have been through is for my own good but it has ground me down. I apoligise to all of you who are in far worse situations than me I don't mean to belittle the enormity of what you have faced I can't imagine how some of you have coped. But right now I feel at rock bottom - sorry.

    This time...

    another experience over

Well at least the doctor doing the utrasound knew what he was doing today!  I am now convinced that when I had one in Feb (after 48 hours as an inpatient for speed!) that they guy doing it wasn't interested.  My signs and symptons are exactly the same, and he sent me out saying I was wasting  his time, but as it was a new experience for me I couldn't argue.  Today was so different, and the doctors and nurses so considerate while they drained put 6.5 ltrs of liquid from me that I was very relieved...

    Well what a year!

    Hi Guys,

Well it has been a year since this awful disease arrived in my life and i have just found the strength to read through my original blogs and forums from that time.

It has been 5 months 1 week and 5 days since my dad passed away and it feels like years and just minutes all at the same time.

So anyway i have realised through reading through my past ramblings what a huge support you all were to me last christmas and indeed in the 12 months since.

I hope i did everything in my power to make...

    Ovarian Carcinoid Cancer

So, I battled through the snow today (6 hour round trip) to get the results of my colonscopy. They showed no sign of carcinoid in the caecum. So I've got to go back and have the ocreotide scan again and then probably my ovary and appendix removed. Not quite what I was hoping for, but reading some of the other posts I guess I should be feeling happy.

    Merry Christmas Everyone x x x x
