All the women who suffer from localized type of breast cancer are treated either by lumpectomy surgery, radiation technique and tamoxifen. But according to the researchers, the most effective is lumpectomy surgery. The women who undergo only lumpectomy surgery are considered to be alive for more number of years than the others.
But according to a study it was found that whatever be the treatment, among the 2,000 women studied, approximately all were likely to die from other causes apart from breast...

I would be really grateful if anyone else out there has been diagnosed with peritoneal cancer and had chemo can tell me how they are coping with it. Since my chemo treatment finished on 30th Dec 2010 I feel lost and lonely. I have been trying to find a cousellor in the Milton Keynes area but so far no luck! It doesn't help that there is only limited info on the web and makes grim reading for the potentailly limited future with this cancer!
Last week we buried Phil, and his mum - they died within a week of each other, both from liver cancer. Phil's primary cancer was bowel, but it had spread to his liver. His mum was only diagnosed a few weeks ago.
Two funerals in one week is a lot for anyone, but it has left me completely numb. I dreaded Phil's funeral especially. The thought of showing my grief in front of all those people was horrendous. I found myself thanking everyone for coming at the end like some mad society hostess. However...
Hello all.
Ive come back to take a look around to see how people are doing and to update matters for those people who sent me encouragement and support last year.
In October I underwent the abdominal lymph node dissection. I stayed in hospital for 9 days, and in that time ate 3 oranges, one weetabix and slept for perhaps 4 hours collectively. 2 nights spent in HDU struggling with the epidural balance then eventually permitted morphine after enduring the worst acute pain of my adult life. I would...
decided to have a bit of retail therapy today. i'm getting my hall and stairs redecorated and its taken forever as walls keep crumbling, dodgy floor and paper has taken 3 weeks to deliver but the end is in sight. lol i'm gonna look for blinds, voile curtains and anything else i fancy hehehehe.
a question for you. my friends are and have been magnificent with me - always popping in, phoning and basically stalking me as i'm on my own. i have been honest with them but at times when i feel a...
I am meeting with the hospital dentist today to decide how many teeth I can keep ahead of my radiotherapy treatment to my neck. I asked my nurse last week how they would replace any they remove. She replied without a moment's hesitation, 'They won't. You can't have any replaced or even dentures fitted for at least a year after treatment until your gums have recovered.' Time stopped, I felt physically sick with fear and I felt myself zoom back from the room, like a fast camera...
Hi all
I have felt a little better of late, i still have the hang ups but are dealing with them.
I met a lady who lost her husband 4 years ago. she is so inspirational and helps many people with promblems and need support, she is totally non-judjmental and makes time for everybody whilst still helping out with children and grandchildren.
I went for lunch with the lady and her friends, it was a first for me without my jim. the only problem being i had a bit of a wobble later in the evening as i...
