Morning all.
First of all apologies for not updating sooner but I have had friends visiting and there just hasn't seemed to be the time. No excuse I know.
I had my results. I think I had been secretly hoping for another outstanding episode of shrinking. Unfortunately it was not to be. Dr Oncologist still believes this is good news though, it was as if he could read my disappointment. He said that after our last results it is easy to get 'greedy' for more shrinkage, damn, this man knows me to...
Female - 63 - married - 2012 I had my right kidney removed - luckily the cancer was confined to the kidney so no further treatment was required just yearly CTs (that tumour was called 'TIMMY').
The 'BETTY' I now have is nothing to do with the kidney - which I suppose is good news!!!! -am looking forward to Friday - so that whatever is in front of me can start !!!!!!! obviously all a bit gobsmacking
cycle 2 BEACOPP almost done and coped a lot better than cycle 1. No major issues although the chemo drugs on day 8 definitely cause some bad gas issues (embarrassing) and having lost my hair down there also. Let's just say my body is not completely happy, who would have thought that my biggest complaint atm is something everybody could suffer with. I know one person who will enjoy reading about this ....
during this time I had a realisation that all of this has helped me overcome my tendency...
Daniel's the first person I've ever been close to that has battled cancer. I guess what I'd never really considered before was how difficult it must be to cope with all the normal day to day pressures of life, whilst having cancer at the same time.
Cancer or no cancer, you still need money to live and potentially you need even more money when you're travelling backwards and forwards to London for treatment every week! Daniel worked at care homes in South West London in a very physically...
On October 15th 2015 I was invited to speak at the National Forum of Gynaecological Oncology Nurses conference on survivorship. There were about 80 people there, mostly nurses, and they wanted to hear about the patient experience. This is what I said:
Good morning and thank you for inviting me here to speak with you today. I’ve never opened a conference before and I think the fact that I am standing here, kicking off what looks like it will be an interesting and challenging day says a lot about...
oh the tiredness is such a pain its too early to go to bed so I thought I'd log on here to see how all you lovely people are getting on
I found another lump a couple of weeks ago which the doctor doesn't seem too concerned about......which is easier for her to say! I phoned my breast care nurse to let her know what was happening and thought I handled it ok with no meltdown until I got a phone call from the MacMilan wellbeing advisor first thing the next morning. Just before I got the call...
beacopp day 7 cycle 2. Just the normal blood test ahead of chemo day 8 tomorrow.
sunday had tickets to watch Ireland v France at millennium stadium. took dad and a couple of uni friends, the original plan was for a lads weekend so had hostel booked 4 bed dorm at YHA. Early train, it is packed 90+% in green. get to the tunnel and then we get stuck, they need to detach and reattach the back 2 carriages (which we are on). 45 mins later and we aren't on the move again, big sigh!
only hour late into...
So the first I knew about Daniel's illness was back in May 2014. We were chatting away as we do and he happened to drop into conversation that he was in hospital. Eh? Bless him, he always downplays it.
He said he was just having some tests and he felt fine . . . blah, blah, blah. Knowing him as I do I called Evie for the real story. She told me that Daniel had had some breathing difficulties investigated back in January and they had found a cyst on his lung. He'd been referred to a consultant...
In the few days after seeing the locum I was using my medication as directed but not really seeing any improvment. I was not worried too much as the gp said if that didnt work he could send me to the local hospital to see ENT who may be able to shine some light on the problem.
That week in November I was off work on holiday, I spent the majority of my time with my friends, we went to the cinema and went out for the night. The following week my sister and I decided to go shopping to the city for the...
It's been a week now since my op. I'd sort of been doing ok, but I feel so absolutely low now.
I found out that the second day after my op my Mum had a fall at home and she got taken into hospital by ambulance (she was let out the next day). She made my brother promise not to tell me as she was concerned about worrying me when I was only just out of hospital myself. My brother lives at home with my Mum and is not well himself - I believe that he has Aspergers syndrome but he has never been...
