I was diagnosed with CMML quite a while ago. My lovely haematologist, who I've been seeing since 2005, had warned it looked like things were pointing towards CMML but I can't honestly say I was that worried.
A bone marrow test was excrutiating. (It's worth knowing you can ask to be sedated.) According to various hospitals I have a high pain threshold. I thought I'd screamed the place down, but my boyfriend said I didn't utter a sound. (His palms were bleeding though!) Apparently...
I havn't been on here in a while as things were going well for my dad. Palliative radio and chemotherapy were working. However, he didn't finish the last round of chemo as his platelets were low and a transfusion didn't help. He now lives me, my husband and our 12yr old son. In the last month his health has deteriorated rapidly. The last week has been so DISTRESSING. He only gets out of bed to use bathroom, sleeps most of time, hardly eats and is in so much pain. I thought I could cope...
Has anyone else watched a love one have a traumatic death. My father has lung cancer Mesothelioma due to Asbestos. He went into the hospice over 2 weeks ago to sort out his meds as he had become toxic with the over use of morphine. He had terrible withdrawl symptoms, twitching, hallucinations, confusion it was very painful to watch. A week later the hospice told us that dad was to weak to come home and that he may only have a few days to live. We waited and waited and a week on he is still with us...
Hi out there,
My dad underwent a heart bi pass last year which he took a long time to get over & also suffered some depression , added to this it has also left him with a bit of dementia.
He was diagnosed with NSCLC abt 7 weeks ago , after a bronchoscopy & scans it is inoperable & they've said no to chemo. They want him to have 20 shots of radiotherapy over a 4 week period & he is agreeing to it. They say he has moved on from the original T3 status & it is now in the nodes? (lymph nodes...
So when the doctor (skin specialist at the surgery, visited her on purpose) did the biopsy she used the smallest hole punch thing so as not to scar unnecessarily. When I went in the day the results came back she was on holiday. The doctor I saw was convinced that I didn't need referring as she would have taken it all out and I had to push for referral.
When the referral arrived, it was for the dermatology clinic. Now yes, they do deal with these, but the doctor who I'd seen works there sometimes...
Came out of hospital last Monday and apart from being tired, I have been feeling better than I have done for a long time. Have been pottering around in the garden ( the best therapy there is ), getting tired but resting in between jobs. As you all now know we went to see Mum/Nan on Saturday, had a lovely couple of hours with Lewis & Debbie there as well.I had an appointment with the oncologist today and he examined my neck where the secondary tumour is and he thinks it has shrunk considerably, I...
