Many years, nay decades ago.
When I was at school, We had an a history teacher who went by the nickname of Ernie Lump due to an extremely large growth on the back of his neck. He was feared by all the students and some of the teachers. As a homage to that teacher I have named the Lump on my Liver “Ernie”
Hopefully like the original Ernie, the Lump will be removed and go on to live a full life,
Ernie that is, not the Lump. BTW he never lost his nickname he just became Ernie Lump...

stands for bum day not birthday, meet oncology man today and lets see what he says, not much I'm guessing as next scan is due January and I saw the surgeon last month and she was quite up beat, makes a change from him I call him Mr Pessimist, he can find a dark lining to every silver cloud!! Hubby now in Holland and offshore North Sea, umm he does not 'do' North Sea, how did that happen?? Oh well time to do bum on the stomach and get going!
Well been in to the breast unit today and they were lovely and very efficient, without being clinical.
Ultra sound in the first room, onto see the consultant who reviewed the ultrasound with a med student and said that the smaller lump is a fluid filled cyst and the larger is a hard cyst which they would biopsy. Onto room number 3 and had the fluid drained form the cyst, then the biopsy done on the other one. Results Friday.
Feeling ok at the moment, bit sore but fine, off for a nap then birthday...
Hiya , after reading this site I thought wow what a great idea , write down my journey and hopefully get advice. So here begins ! I was on holiday in Bakewell after celebrating my 50th and silver wedding in Oct . Can't let this afternoon pass without recording a smile at the mighty All Blacks and their win. Was that 51 points they scored.......... ?! Yep indeed. And what about the gorgeous Dan Carter. My man was a Kiwi, and I like to think he was sitting with 2 of his brothers, his Ma & Pa in wherever Heaven is and cheering on their beloved team. Hurray! Only one more sleep then the day is here.
The lump seems smaller today, i can't tell if it's because it is smaller or if it's just that i'm getting used to it being there. I guess it could be a sign that it is not nasty cells, that it is just a swollen milk duct or something.
My little girl is poorly today, she has a really high temperature and a nasty cough and tomorrow i have to leave her with my mum when all i want to do is cuddle her. Makes me appreciate that at the moment...
I new things were going to get harder just by looking at the chemo schedule. I also new i had come through so far with only minimal side effects of tiredness and nagging headaches. It was bound to get worse I thought.
Over a three week period i was in for 6 days out for 2 days in for 2 days out for 4 days then in for a week. I had 5 chemo sessions with the Methotrexate being increased each time. The last one being 12,000 mg!.I seemed of coped well with only a few small ulcer / inflamed areas at...
Well the operation to remove my left kidney went well, they had to remove some pancreas, some spleen, adrenal glands and lymphnodes - apart from that all went well - I went down to theatre at 1300 and apparently the operation finished at 1930 - I was in hospital until Thursday afternoon and oh boy wasn't it nice to get home - but I have nothing but praise for all of the medical teams that had anything to do with me and my care whilst in.
Now I've got to take it easy and am going to get stronger...
Just tomorrow and Sunday to get through then work Monday morning, then leaving early to get to hospital for appointment at 11.
I keep thinking the lump has gone and maybe i imagined it, then i check again and it's there. Weird. I have found that i've had no appetite this week, i think i'm just worried, did enjoy my cake the other night though:) My friend bought it for me for my birthday which is on Monday, so it's the same day as my appointment. Don't know if that's a good sign...
