    Chemo script not ready
Hi, My mum has not had a very easy time of her chemo over the last few weeks, she does seem to be fated at times, last Wednesday she should have been having her 3rd dose, but her blood cells were too low although she had a blood transfusion on the Monday that should have helped, but didn't. Anyway she was sent home again to come back this Wednesday she had her bloods done all was ok, but apparently the script had not been written up by the doctor so again she was sent home and told to ring up on...

    Deep breath.
I have decided to start a blog at the suggestion of several other lovely members. Hopefully it will help me keep track of the issues I'm facing and stop things swirling around in my head so much. Tomorrow I travel home to see my dad, who is 54 and has terminal prostate cancer. He was diagnosed last year and has been having chemo all of this year. On Friday it is my dad's younger brother's (my uncle's) funeral. He died last week after many years of battling with MS, and was only in his 40s. My dad...

    Sharing
My husband Martin has been suffering with cancer since December 2007. He initially was diagnosed with oesophegeal cancer, had chemo, major surgery, chemo again and then after scans we were told it has spread to his liver, lung and bone. He has now been on chemo again (almost 16 months so far) recently via a Hickman line. The doctors have now taken him off chemo as it really is making him so weak he can hardly walk. We are now waiting for a nother CT scan on the 27 May and final result on the...

    Mmmm....Grapefruit!
Its been a while since I was last seen hobbling around the blog board with a funny walk and baggy jogging bottoms - So I thought I should update matters. I Have in the last 2 weeks been to St James hosp in Leeds twice now. Fabulous building, never seems to look too busy, everythings well hidden away and the staff are generally very good. I say generally as the oncologist I saw last week was a little bit confuzzled. He at first told me my cancer was 'non - seminoma based' - then it was 'seminoma based...

This can't be happening...... can it?
In January I was given the all clear following 18 months of treatment for breast cancer. We are just recovering from the trauma of this and trying to get our lives back together! However, following an episode of blood in his urine, my husband is now being fast tracked to a urologist for investigations, there is no symptoms, pain or otherwise. Mention the word 'fast track' and my mind goes into overdrive. I can't believe it is happening to us again!!

    My Darling Bobbie
What a scare we had last week, my Bobbie ended up back in hospital, was so unwell, I felt hopeless yet again that you have no control. One day good news, then the next in hospital. Sat in A & E for an hour before being seen, do not know what this piece of paper they call a passport is. They say it is supposed to get you seen quicker because of being on chemo, but does not mean a thing. I don't mean to moan because I know there are many people in a&e needing to be seen, but when its your loved...

    can't help but feel alone
Hi all, it's about 11:15 and the household is shutting down, but my head isn't, maybe those sleeping tablets have lost their power to put me in nice land of nod. The kids are in bed, my husband (who's got a cold) in bed the cats have turned in and the dogs have also abbandoned me and gone in there baskets! So here alone with my thoughts overtaking me! They are as follows-feeling sorry for myself-feeling alone and has my life been worth it! Don't have many friends on here, sometimes wonder if they...

    Lost Without My Beautiful Mum
On the 21st January 2009 my beautiful and amazing Mum Lena died suddenly of Ovarian Cancer aged 55. My mum fell ill a few weeks before Christmas 2008. Mum was admitted to hospital, but discharged nine days later with a bowel condition and was told her condition would improve with bed rest and medication. After two extremely restless and painful weeks Mum’s condition worsened, so we re-admitted her to hospital. Two days later my family and I were informed by the doctor that Mum had cancer, we were...
