    Forgiveness and increasing immunity?
Forgiveness and increasing immunity in cancer?

As many cancers affect the immune system at some stage, the disease itself or treatment. As chronic lymphocytic leukaemia's  major day to day effect on us is immunodeficiency a recent overseas post intrigued me.

A recent report at a scientific meeting (excerpts below) observed that CD4+ T cells percentages in HIV-positive patients are elevated by the experience of forgiveness.  The neuro-immune connection is now well-documented, and, as a result...

Goodbye PICC line - oral chemo only from now on

I had my oncology review on Friday, and following low blood counts, there has been a change in my chemo regime. The IV drug (Oxaliplatin - nasty side effects) has been cancelled and I proceed with oral chemo only (Capecitibine - very few side effects for me). If my blood counts continue to be low then the whole lot may now be cancelled.

But for now - after one cycle of capecitibine only - my bloods have recovered to an acceptable level. I picked up my tablets for the next cycle this morning (cycle...

  • Our Journey so far
    It's a roller coaster Journey

What a rocky ride it has been so far, it all started when my lovely man started to have blackouts.

Friday the 28th January was the day he and I started the journey, this was the day he frightened me half to death with a seizure.  He said he thought he had blacked out  a few times previously but nobody had witnessed them...

Since that date after numerous tests on the 1st March 2011 he was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour.  He then went on to have further tests which resulted in brain surgery on...

Hubby nearly all clear - now have to cope with mum and dementia

Now that my husband's treatment for leukemia is completed and we have been told he is in remission, my next hurdle is dealing with my mum who has dementia which is getting worse by the day.

Sometimes I wonder if physical problems are easier to cope with - there is treatment, it works or it doesn't but the person is still there - with dementia the person you love is no longer there in mind although the body is.

This is going to be a much more painful and harder struggle than Paul's AML and...

    Was this a dream?

So it is 10 months today since Dad left us.I can't believe it has been that long since i last spoke to him.

Last night i had a dream, it was a lovely dream for the most of it. I was in a field full of poppys a beautiful red field and in this field were lots of horses. My Dad was there with me and it was normal as if he hadn't been gone for 10 months. Dad and i rode the horses. I got off mine to have a sit down and at that point Dad rode away on his horse right into the distance and as i shouted...

    My Dad xxxx

My Dad passed away a few months after being diagnosed with cancer. I helped looked after him until the end and now don`t know what to do without him. He was my rock, whenever i needed him he was there, and now i`m so lost without him. I just can`t get used to the fact that i`m not going to see him again. It hurts so much....
