  • The mysteries of Mo
    September 15th 2011

Feeling a bit down today Mo's not responding as well as I would like/hope to the increase in meds, shes still so tired & not engaging too well in conversation. Our neighbours came round today for a cup of tea,Mo managed to get up and sit in the front room while they were here. Sue & I tried to talk to Mo and hold a conversation with her but it was just yes/no replies she found it hard to construct a sentence herself. You could see she had some degree of understanding what we were saying but there...

Met our Macmillan  nurse today,Katy Bontoft for the first time not what I expected, she wasn't wearing the green uniform. It made a pleasant change to see her in 'normal' everyday clothes its easier to relate to,seen enough uniforms in the last week or so!.A very nice lady and to be honest quite relieved to see her finally, seems an age since a Macmillan nurse was mentioned but it was only on Monday afternoon when the district nurse visited.Had a very long chat with her about how we arrived at this point...

  • Life after my loss
    the tears that just appear

Well third week back at work and fast approaching 2months since the death of my beloved husband. I still struggle to sleep i did think going back to work would make me tired, it has achieved that but as soon as my eyes begin to close my mind and body jumps to alert and races through like a whirlwind. I have managed though to get upstairs, after so many months of sleeping downstairs as my darling husband couldn't make it upstairs. I still feel closer to him down here sitting on the sofa but I had...

    chemo #3

    Hello you lovely lot

Well, it all went well until they tired to get the stitch out from the Hickman line op thingy and a bit of it was stuck to the scab so it pulled - bit *ouch* but we got there in the end ;)

Feeling WOOZY from piriton etc, but picked up afterwards by stepdad, mum here all afternoon to make me cuppas and cooked dinner when kids got in, so lolling on sofa is all I've done and all I'm going to do until I go to read my little 'un a bedtime story :)

    Staying sane

I am new at this, but i think i am going to like having a place to vent both my frustrations and get advice and tips on how to cope.

The past 3 years have been very hard on my family, Both my parents died within months of each other- my mum died in 2009, she had pancreatic and breast cancer and my dad had a lung disease and died last year so you can imagine the shock my family  and friends were in when 6 months later i was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. My friends and family keep saying i...

feeling a little low and angery :(
First blog I done on here….. Feeling a little low today been another hard few weeks with more choices to be made. Annoys me these people at the hospitals make u feel like there is a little hope to be told that actually there isn’t and there isn’t anything that can be done. Why do they put you in these situations? Make u make choices about your life when actually it doesn’t matter anyways?!?!?. I am sick of seeing mum like this her feeling like she has given in by not having chemo again but what‘s...

    Professional head on

Yesterday was not such a good day. Since the GP said it might be cancer last week - first day of new term I have been office based. I could hide behind my desk, not talk with anyone, look at computer and have headphones on to block out thoughts.

Yesterday I had to 'go out into the world'. Get out of the car and say 'Right put professional head on'. Do the job, focus... First appt not too bad although feels a bit of a fog at first and names of pupils I would normally recall are a little slower in...

Testicular cancer , our experience as a family

Hi there , this is my husband ,Stephens story so far .......... At the start of this year my husband started complaining of a pain in his left testicle , at this point he didnt really feel a lump as such , like other people do , it was more that his testicle was the same size as the other but had become rock hard . Like most people , you dont think that it will be anything sinister , so we waited a few weeks , while life takes over and you get on with everyday life and raising three children and...
