It Feels like its gone from bad to worse!
Well we went for the appointment at the Daycase unit at the chemo department and they said that mum's bloods were not right, there was a problem with the kidney function. The told us she could have chemo the following day but first to pop to have some more bloods taken. This we did then took her home. We had just settled her down and then I drove 30 miles home and dad called me to say the hospital had asked for mum to be taken back immediately, she needed to be admitted, but he did not know why...

    Melanoma of the Neck
Back in December 08 i found a lump in my neck. I went to doctors and he examained me as I initially thought it was mumps. (I wish it was now) Gave me a week of penicillin as they thought it was an infection in my lymph nodes. After a week of tablets it had not gone down any, so they referred me for a biopsy. I went on the 30th December and in January I got my results to say there were malignent cells from the biopsy. They gave me a choice of three but after an MRI scan they opted for Salivary...

    Our history so far
It all started in Nov 2003 when my husband was admitted to hospital and they discovered he had a 5cm mass in his right kidney. Within 3 weeks he had had a Radical Nephrectomy (removal of kidney) and it turned out that he had "Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma". As far as we knew all the cancer cells were contained within the kidney and they were 90% sure that none had escaped, so no further treatment was recommended, apart from regular scans. That was until in Jan 2007, when at a 5cm mass was discovered...

    Feeling sad
Third round of chemo is over and last night was rough...woke up with a headache and feeling quite alot of nausea...awful. I took meds and feel better now. My breathing is pretty good, kinda. Had my weekly thoracentesis. They hurt. Honey isn't coping very well and I am seeing things more clearly these days that I haven't been wanting to see before. And I am sad about it. I don't think we are going to be together in the long run. I have to do things slowly. I have so much to think about...

    Caring for my son
Over the weekend, my son had his 2nd session. It wasn't as smooth as the 1st time because he vomited on the 2nd day in the hospital and once again the night we got home. I'm thankful that there were just two incidents. It is scary and sad to see him go through this but he is very courageous and takes it all in stride, no complaints. After the second time at home, I was offering to give him his anti-vomit medication but he preferred not to. I trust that he knows what he can and can't handle...
