It Feels like its gone from bad to worse!

3 minute read time.
Well we went for the appointment at the Daycase unit at the chemo department and they said that mum's bloods were not right, there was a problem with the kidney function. The told us she could have chemo the following day but first to pop to have some more bloods taken. This we did then took her home. We had just settled her down and then I drove 30 miles home and dad called me to say the hospital had asked for mum to be taken back immediately, she needed to be admitted, but he did not know why. I dashed off and met him at the hospital. Finally a nurse told us that her calcium levels were too high and she needed to have fluids in to flush it out. They said the chemo is off unil the can get the calcium sorted. During the night the staff said she had termendous nightmares and dreams. My mum said she saw all the nurses having a party and we were there. My partners dad died of lymphoma 5 years ago and he hallucinated badly and he also had this hallucination. Then whilst I was with her she asked me to tell the man in her room to leave as he was anoying her as he was staring at her. There was no one else in the room, ths too was something my partners dad saw, he then passed away within weeks. This is now on my mind. I left her and came home. I was sat at home just after 8pm and my mobile rang and it was my mum! I answered it and she was frantic telling me she had lost dad, she was looking for him but she can't find him. She said he was leaving and the doctor stopped him and told him how long she had left and my dad was crying somewhere and she couldn't find him. A nurse came in and sorted her for a moment. She then called my sister and said the same, by this time my dad was home so he called her back and re-assured her he knew nothing and no one had spoke to him. These seems a very bizzare reaction. Does she know something inside of her? I am also frustrated as she had had her bloods done 10 days previously and it wasn't until she turned up at the daycase centre and my dad had asked about her bloods then someone looked at the results to which something showed up. Why didn't anyone look at them as soon as they were taken so steps could have been put in place. It just seems lik everything has been delayed yet again when it didn't have to be. Her calcium was up to 39 surely it wasn't this high 10 days ago. I feel like no one listens at the hospitals. They kept saying what CA of lung patients should be like but my dad kept telling them that she had no appetite, lost interest in everything, could not even get out of bed, although staff kept saying make her go for a walk, to which my dad kept saying she can't she just sleeps all the time and is confused. I have just looked up high calcium and these are all the signs. My dad gave them all the information surely the doctors on a cancer department should have picked up the clues, yet alone have the bloods to look at. It feels like they were incompetant in this and I am angry at this. I understand high calcium could be difficult to detect by a GP but she had all the extreme signs so I can't understand how this got missed. It seems like people forgot to stop and listen to the patient and the family, too busy to notice what was staring them in the face.

you must feel so let down by the dr's, i have as well, but not to this degree, you really should complain, they should be doing everything they can and not overlook anything, plz complain, and always ask questions, i have a lump now appeared in my neck, yet when i asked he was very vague about it, truthfully i think they know what it is, but when i next go clinic t see oncologist i WILL be asking, also get them to check her sodium levels, mine was very high which resulted in me having a seizure. good luck. if you dont stand up and shout you get ignored.
