Today has been the worst since Pete died. It is 5 weeks ago today that he left home in the ambulance. The funeral was 4 days ago. I don't know why but today I woke at 4am, feeling intensely sad. I could not get back to sleep, and I have kept that feeling all day, incredibly sad about everything. The life that Pete has been cheated out of. The loss of our future. The fact that I will grow old without him. He was 8 years older than me, I always thought that I would be alone at some point, but not at...
Hello - I hope the community is well in spirit and enjoying the arrival of spring colours. I feel vain writing this, and tell myself to keep perspective....yet I find myself continuing to write. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer (grade 3, ER -ve, HER2 +ve) and completed chemo 6 months ago (4 cycles of EC and 4 cycles of Docetaxel/Pertuzumab/Transtuzumab). I lost my eyelashes, eyebrows and hair. Approx 3 months after chemo ended my eyelashes began to regrow and now, 6 months after chemo they are...
This week the sideline project work I have been doing for Macmillan became rolled into a formal permanent job, that I had built but had now to apply for.
I have been terrified at the thought of not getting my own job. I had to be interviewed. How would I tell the suppliers I have worked so hard to build positive and personal relationships with if I wasn’t the right person to continue?
At the same time I was being mock interviewed by candidates for our Case Study department (a helpful thing...
Well, op on Thursday. Different surgeon Ms Karat, she's lovely and we had a good talk on what she thinks.
I left her room feeling good, then I go home and feel so lonely. I have friends but who wants to talk about cancer, they have their own lifes with their own problems.
then there's my dad. Hes 80 and cant talk to him. He just makes me angry. He told me not to bother with reconstruction surgery. Unfortunately I wasn't nice with a response. I'm 42, single, its hard enough attracting the...
Today is one of my dark days. I've never felt so lonely and isolated, having noone to vent to because we're all going through the same thing.
my dads condition is so bad now, he's confused, lost so much weight and so frail. I'm scared I'm going to loose him. He has throat cancer, but several separate doctors have advised its elsewhere, then stopped when realising we have no idea on the deterioration.
we have tried to speak with the oncologist but noone will meet with us...
Don't usually do blogs but wanted to share.
background - diagnosed with throat (tonsil) cancer 12 months ago - treatment by radiotherapy July - August and now doing pretty well on all fronts.
Off on holiday this year so tried the usual websites to get quotes and what a difference. Read another blog on MacMillan who said try "Insureancewith" - just come off the phone and I'm covered for a decent premium. This isn't why I am writing.
The main reason is to say that, after the detailed...
This is where it starts to get difficult - anticipating what Colin would like to eat!
I have never been someone who reads self-help books or who goes in for counselling or support groups. I have never felt the need for any of it, but now I find myself reaching out desperately for comfort and support in all directions. I read a bereavement book last night, and although I found a lot of it fairly ridiculous, there were a couple of points which I found worthy of further consideration.
1. When I cry, I am not really crying for Pete, but for myself. If there is nothing after death...
I have had some really lovely comments to my previous posts. Most unexpected, but very gratefully received. I haven't been able to read other blogs yet, I am too close to tears all the time. Will try to reply to the comments soon, but not strong enough today. Some of them are in the same position, or expect to be. It is so heartbreaking, so much pain and sadness.
So, 6 months after loosing my (lets say Partner for now, it will become clearer as the blog moves forward) partner, I am invited to attend three counselling sessions set up by Macmillan.
One session each month for three months (does this ring a bell?). I have lots of friends around me and had a little counselling before this invite but I am a person who is willing to take all the help there is and see how it fits with me, so I went along.
The sessions are three, the subject are three, the sessions...
