    hell day

So Monday was spent all day preparing for and travelling to a court hearing that happened Tuesday. That's all a long story in itself, but boiled down it is extra stress that's just added to the already tangible strain on the family.  John's parents looked after the little ones, with help from second-oldest daughter.  The trip was a long one and it definitely took its toll on John.  Monday night we met with an old friend of mine, who I never get to see anymore.  We both enjoyed a nice dinner...

  • It's time to Tri
Now it's ACTUALLY time to Tri

Ok, right, so my training blog hasn't actually been very active since my first entry six months ago (!!) however I can assure you I have been active - rowing , cycling and a spot of running. However specific training for triathlon in two months (!!!!) has not really materialised. So here's what I need to do:

Get some swim practice in. I have now downloaded my local pool timetable which means I will train and I have Googled where I can do some outdoor swimming to try out my wetsuit. I just...

    Health

    Now, here's the thing:

I feel good. I am healthy. I can do my placement (which is physically quite demanding) without any problems whatsoever.

The SNB came back all clear.

So why why why would I now go and make myself potentially really ill with chemo and rads and hormones AND herceptin. Usually I'd say 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it...'

    Big sigh.

    Larry 1 Brooksie 0

    News report

In the 1st round of the heavyweight fight between Brooksie from Scotland in the blue corner (feel free to cheer and clap) and Larry from Sh**sville in the red corner (boo and hiss as much as you can), the  judges have unamimously decided it was a victory for Larry.

In a press conference after the BumCam, Brooksie said:

"Yeah he got me with a sucker punch, I didn't see the wee b*****d coming at all"

He went on to say "I'm building myself up now for round 2 at the CT scan...

So here we go - right or wrong

Ok.  I have  mentioned this before and those of you who know me have said wisely, Let it Go. It won't help, it will slow your recovery from grief, it will cause more pain.

But I have been thinking and I have to do this. I have to get these questions out of me so that in 2 years or 3/4/5 years I am not left thinking, "I wish I'd asked that."

I think my questions will not give me any answers. They will not tell me what I want to hear. They will not alter the outcome - my man is dead...

Lazy Sunday mornings are a blessing

Thank goodness for lazy Sunday. Even with the new knowledge this morning that yet another family member is plagued with something horrible, I feel easier today. Maybe it's my refusal to do any housework; maybe my refusal to get dressed properly; or maybe the kids' enjoyment of the weekly "American Pancakes" mornings and virtually unlimited access to various video games. Whatever it is, it's a well-needed mental break that makes it easier to cope with the seemingly endless worries and frets and...

"Cancer, and my name is Larry"

The last few days have been full of ups and downs, though many more downs than ups. Not sure if its normal, but have been having mainly morbid thoughts. Probably quite irrational. I tend to be quite organised so I checked with my solicitor to make sure he still had copies of my will. I then made a list of all my bank accounts, where the money was, life insurance reference numbers, pension reference numbers etc and how many death certificates my wife should get in case the worst happens. I even made...

    oh,and then the cat died

by the way, forgot to mention, the bloody cat got diagnosed with two types of breast cancer the day before mums first chemo, and he got put down.

a friend we know is foreign and before it happened he told us that cats in his country are given to very ill people, the cat then takes on the persons illness and goes away to die.the person then becomes well.

had my first social club get together,.it was an epic fail with only 3 people  turning up and me not able to stop talking about cancer.

i could hear myself and was thinking shut up ! but couldnt stop myself. poor guests must of thought i was mental.
