    The Journey gets more .......interesting??
Back again - did you miss me? No - I didn't think so ;-( Well, the next part of my journey has been confirmed. I'm to go under the knife on Friday 12th June. A quick radical prostatectomy in my lunch break and, according to my boss, I'll be back at work in no time......yeah, right! Has he any idea? Not a bit. Others in the office are more in tune. They keep popping in to see me, just to make sure I'm OK. It's very nice, but a bit of a distraction. It's when I'm at home - on my own - that the...

    Chemo side effects
Hi all Just wondered if anyone on here has experienced the same as me, had a radical nephrectomy, followed by chemo of Avastin and interferon injections, unfortunately the avastin put my b/p up so i had a hypertensive crises, had to have lumber puncture, had terrible headaches sickness and generally very unwell, was given a blood transfusion and lots of drugs to bring pressure down, but the downside is i had to come off the chemo before it killed me! Had terrible time thinking about my morbidity...

    1st run in with chemo
Hi everybody. Had my 1st bout of chemo last Friday. Saturday felt great, Sunday..... write off!! Early hours on Monday morning was in excruitiating pain from the waist down. Didn't know whether or not to take pain killers until spoke to NHS Direct. Ended going back onto the treatment centre for an assessment. Ultrasound showed that nothing had ruptured or twisted, and with some very strong painkillers was sent back home after 6 hours obs. Those nurses on the unit are absolutely brilliant!!!...

    Newly Diagnosed
Hi I am a newbie at this and not sure if I am in the right place to get support from others, can't seem to find where you start so that you can be in touch by e-mail etc. hopefully this it? Anyway, I was diagnosed with lung cancer (small cell type) in February and have had 3 sessions of chemo and Radio therapy. The shock of the diagnosis is just unbelievable and although but i think I am now through the worst of that, I find some days really hard to stay positive and not sink into bout of depresion...

    Date for op
Hi Fairly new to this but have my date for the op to try to remove some of the tumour from the artery. Found out today Chrondosarcoma does not respond to chemo or radiotherepy. Feel so alone, know one seems to have heard of it in this place. My gp is doom & gloom. Not a good way to go into an op. Can't stop crying, worrying about the family etc. Cannot find any info as the consultant has had to research world wide. So difficult. ChrisC

    Benefits and Allowances!
Hello one and all I am writing this to tell people who have not been receiving anything regarding Benefits, Allowances or Blue Badge how we came about what Peter has received and how! He was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer October 08. While we were at the Consultants meeting we were introduced to a Cancer Care Cymru Nurse Specialist who informed us that she would help us with all the relevant benefits etc. At the time, for obvious reasons, we did not take this into consideration. About six weeks...

    Chemo script not ready
Hi, My mum has not had a very easy time of her chemo over the last few weeks, she does seem to be fated at times, last Wednesday she should have been having her 3rd dose, but her blood cells were too low although she had a blood transfusion on the Monday that should have helped, but didn't. Anyway she was sent home again to come back this Wednesday she had her bloods done all was ok, but apparently the script had not been written up by the doctor so again she was sent home and told to ring up on...

    Deep breath.
I have decided to start a blog at the suggestion of several other lovely members. Hopefully it will help me keep track of the issues I'm facing and stop things swirling around in my head so much. Tomorrow I travel home to see my dad, who is 54 and has terminal prostate cancer. He was diagnosed last year and has been having chemo all of this year. On Friday it is my dad's younger brother's (my uncle's) funeral. He died last week after many years of battling with MS, and was only in his 40s. My dad...

    Sharing
My husband Martin has been suffering with cancer since December 2007. He initially was diagnosed with oesophegeal cancer, had chemo, major surgery, chemo again and then after scans we were told it has spread to his liver, lung and bone. He has now been on chemo again (almost 16 months so far) recently via a Hickman line. The doctors have now taken him off chemo as it really is making him so weak he can hardly walk. We are now waiting for a nother CT scan on the 27 May and final result on the...
