    The News I Didn't Want
My mum has had 3 rounds of chemo and the consultant as decided that it is making no difference and have stopped any further chemo. It was a shock as my dad, who would not let anyone go with him and my mum to see the consultant, had said that after the 1st chemo the saw the consultant and he said the x-ray showed a small shrinkage. After the 2nd lot the x-ray showed about a half shrinkage. My dad had got me all excited and I had thought that this was all good news and that my mum, even though we...

    RIP Uncle
Yesterday was my uncle's funeral. He had MS and lived a relatively short but laughter-filled life. Though the funeral was a sad occasion, it really did feel like a celebration of his life. We had a humanist ceremony because my uncle was not religious which meant we organised and led the whole event ourselves. My dad, who has terminal prostate cancer and is very ill himself, did a marvellous job at opening the proceedings and giving a speech about his brother's childhood. Someone else then talked...

Cold Cap to Reduce hair Loss
Hi, I was wondering if any members have used the cold cap system in an attempt to reduce hair loss through chemo. I am 19 days out from my first chemo (FEC100) and have thinning but have not lost any clumps of hair. I am worried about the amount of thinning. I have spoken with several women that have used the cold cap system and all have had some degree of thinning, I just hope mine is in the norm and not usually extreme.....

    Gloves?
Hi, Our daughter, Claire, is about to start chemo today (we hope!), and I know that one possible side effect is extreme sensitivity to the cold. With this mind, please do you have any tips (both what to look out for, and what to avoid) when choosing gloves for her? Thanks Gary ------------------------------ "One step at a time"
