    worried about mums results
I am taking my mum to get her results tomorrow afternoon. She was diagnosed with bowel cancer 3 weeks ago and had the last tests last week. Part of me just wants to know exactly what we have to deal with but on the other hand I am really worried. Mum is a bit of a worrier anyway and she is beside herself - she thinks they are going to say there is nothing that can be done at all. I have read loads about it - but am not sure if it has helped. She is 62 and has always been healthy. Her mum died from...

    terrified for my son
I could really do with some words to calm me down. I have a rare form of cancer which is hereditary, a dominant gene which offspring have a 50-50 chance of inheriting, I have 1 son of 24, newly married, starting to forge his way in life, career etc. He had a scan on Thursday to see if he has any tumours, and he casually told me this afternoon that the doctor rang him on Friday afternoon and asked him to go and see her tomorrow for the results. My heart suddenly went ice cold, and I swear my stomach...

    Almost there.....
Well, I might not be a regular poster at the moment (although I do have All Bran for breakfast every morning), but I would like to share the start of the end of my cancer with you. Monday is Pre-Op day – a trip to Salisbury for all the form-filling, prodding and poking that, I’m told, is vital for the safe completion of my operation. I’ve got to be there by 09:00 – do you think I’ll be able to swing a whole day off work? I’ve started to read through the booklets and fill in the questionnaires ...

It is almost 8 weeks since my husband David passed away with Mesothelioma,he was only 59 yrs old.He was ill for only 6months.He never had chemo (dont know why).I nursed him to the very end,and I am so glad I done that. I must say that his GP and Hospice Nurse, and the local nurses where really great, they all offered great and much needed support to me and David. But nothing can perpare you for the end,but you cope .

    Im here
Its unbelievable, the many lives that we discovered as we went through our chemo/radiation treaments. It was so nice to speak to others going through hearing their stories, of their families, their previous jobs, hobbies, and their life now and how they cope. they've adapted to improve the new obstacle called cancer. its amazing where we find ourselves to be even stronger that we've never knew we could be. As we battled this 2nd round of cancer i just want to be here to help out others if just...

    My life ......today
I've always been an optimistic person but thats with a heavy dose of relying on my Heavenly Father and my faith. We are always faced with challenges, daily, hourly and in a split second it can change. The mood, the ideas, goals that have been set previously, flood the mind today, i struggle as a spouse of a cancer patient. It started as throat cancer and has now spread out throughout his body. Im sure u know the feeling, going through but not being the one going through it is just as draining...

    Consultants forget the Patients
As I mentioned previously mum was told by the consultant on Friday that they were no longer going to treat her cancer and everything now would be about palletive care. Fine if thats how it has to be, but the consultants seem to forget they may deal with 100's of patients suffering from this disease a day but my mum and dad have never had to deal with it before. They do not know what is normal, not normal, who they should contact, who they should turn to for the answers. So the consultant packs...
