  • A SPOT ON THE BRAIN
OK I THINK I'VE SUSSED HOW TO DO A BLOG ON THIS NEW SITE!!

    HELLOO EVERYBODY

I'm not sure that it's nice to be back... coz that means my cancer is back too and like all of you lovely people i'm back for a second round of the fantastic support that we all give eachother as and when needed.

the docs are pretty sure my spot is a secondary tumour from my lung cancer (2 years ago) but cant do a biopsy because that would cause too much damage (apparently it's too deep in my head). So now i take steroids to keep the swelling down ( this seems to be...

  • For The Love Of Gordy - A Sister's Story
    Just To Let You Know

Gordy went to the hospital on Monday for this week's chemo tablets.

Later in the day his consultant's secretary rang Mams as they wanted him to go back and the message was not to take any of the drugs he had been given.

Gordy went back to the hospital on Tuesday morning.  They took the drugs off him and told him that the chemo was doing more harm than good, his blood count had dropped dramatically in 5 days and the cancers in his liver were not responding and growing fast.

    Gordy now has...

    Week 2

well Sunday Mum felt really poorly ,I got her back into hospital and after investigations the Tumour in her brain is back .. totally shocked that it has come back within the month. so suddenly the liver tumours take a back seat and its what to do about the brain tumour again . Mum has been told it is terminal and that any treatment will only manage the syptoms . She is deciding what to do ,, she keeps asking me what to do but its her choice not mine ,if it was mine it would be for her not to be in...

  • I've always been the strong one!
    A Sign Of Hope.

My dad has been back again today in the hope that his blood is up to his next treatment only to find out that it isn't. The drs have now decided to give him G-CSF in the form of pegylated filgrastim (Neulasta) and we are hopeful that this will bring his blood back up to where it should be so that he can continue his treatment.

I have just spoke to my dad and he was honest with me about how he is feeling about it all. He said whatever happens he is aware that this next 12 months could very much...

    1ST POST

Hi, I dont know what Im suppose to write but felt it the right thing to do at the moment. My mum has just found out that she has breast cancer and will need an operation to remove cancer cells and then chemo but she wont really share anything else with me. She keeps saying she is going to die and i just dont want to hear that. I am thinking positive as Im sure they have caught it on time. I am going to be looking after her. Anyone got any ideas on how i can get her to open up a bit?

  • Round 5
    Second round
I had the Gemcitabine and carblatin at the lower dose last Wednesday , and all was ok just usual not sleeping. This Wednesday had Gemcitabine on its own which was ok. I found the chemo was going through very cold and painfull, but a an electric blanket did ease the problem. I was told that this is a known side effect of Gemcitabine hope I don't haveit too often. Just left with chemo headache now but that goes after a coupe of days,!

  • I don't want you to leave Dad....
    What's going on....?

I visited you 2 days ago and you seemed so well...quite set on coming home once the hospital discharged you....though only 2 days previously you had quite firmly told Mom you wanted to go into a Nursing Home as you refused to have us 'running round' looking after you.  Your mind was quite set she told me.  However, when I visited 2 days later you had no recall of that conversation and were determined to return home.  Tonight when I visited you were so unwell, high temperature and shaking so...

    A Rare Feeling :-)

I don't feel this way very much anymore - I could probably count on my fingers the number of times that I have genuinely been happy on my fingers, since my journey with the big C began in Jan 2011.

But I think this rare moment of genuine happiness makes it so much more special, and feel as though I can really be thankful for that moment. I think what I'm trying to say, is that I appreciate happy moments way more often than I ever would have done so. So while I don't feel this way very often...
