I can't believe its nearly a month since my last post.
The last few weeks have been very up and down. julie had another dose of Radio to the Spine yesterday to try and relieve new pains. She is now on a lot more Diamorphine to supress the pain she has.
We have had Two failed attempts to get off the Syringe Driver. Both occasions resulted in Julie having severe withdrawl symptoms. It appears that she is not absorbing oral medication so will have to stay on a Driver for the foreseable future...
I've just completed my first full week of work after my dad's diagnosis and feeling really shattered. I'm so lost as to what I should be feeling right now. I want to be with my dad all of the time but know that this just isn't possible as I need to keep a cetain degree of "normality" in my life.
I can't believe how quickly things can change. This time last year we were celebrating my dad getting the all clear after he had his bladder removed. He was so amazing after...
Had a pretty good night, about 4 hours till woken for obs than managed another hour or so till drip changeover. Got up did the shaving, teeth & loo then a nice hot bath for pleasure rather than necessity this time. Loved it. Went & stretched out on the bed & fell asleep again. Unbelievable!
Woke up with severe heartburn, first time I've woken with it, told this probably down to the high dose of steroids I've been put on. Had to avoid breakfast & hot drinks till the medication did it...
My mum told me tonight, she has breat cancer stage 1, so all is good. I'm just so happy she decided to tell me now. I was so upset she hasn't told me but now she has I feel no anger just love. :)
This is my first blog so I am at a bit of a loss. The Mac site is my second skin at the moment, specially while I'm feeling a little delicate..Hubbie has AML in relapse but I hope we can have a little holiday soon. He took some persuading. His consultant has said other hospitals will be able to help him if becomes unwell while we are away.(That what comes of spending so much time at the hospital that looks after him). I think he is coming around. I have had so much inspiration from reading some...
Well my life seems to have been thrown into turmoil in the last 3 months, Mum was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer in March, she had chemo, 4 doses, lost ALL her hair, and with it ALL her confidence.
Her chemo has now finished, unfortunately the prognosis is the same .....approx 6-8 weeks !!! how do I cope with that? My daughter (51/2 months pregnant) is in bits at the thought that her beautiful grandmother may never get to see her great granddaughter.
On top of all this, I went to the gp...
Well i did it today got my hair cropped very short in readiness for my treatment in a few weeks. I couldnt face the trauma of if falling out , so i thought i would try and get used to it really short before the baldness sets in LOL. I even had my eyebrows and eyelashes tinted, whilst i still have them. My daughters tell me i look younger how lovley and my Gez tells me its fabulous. Do i need any other endorsements.
I must admit i managed not to wimp out in my hairdressers, however she was more nervous...
LIttle bit I forgot yesterday, my wife Pauline is a truly lovely lady, extremely loving and supportive and never fails to bring a smile to my face, yesterday following a chat about the PEG she managed it with this "will I need to prepare the food at home and liquidize it?" She says it was said tongue in cheek but I'm pretty sure it was more a case of foot in mouth. Following this my trials nurse Tracey told the story of one patient she had who apparently injected a glass of red wine through the tube...
It is 6 months since I last put anything on my blog and that was just after sinding out that I would have to have a pelvic exenteration. I had already had 6 weeks of radiotherapy and 6 cycles of chemo but as the cancer had not gone something drastic had to be done.
Well I am pleased to say that after nearly 7 weeks in total in hospital including being rushed back twice I am now at the other side of it all!! It was confirmed that the surgery provided clear margins and this week I went back to work...
i've not been on here for a while so lets give you an update....
