    What people think

Now a week on after having my biopsy. Not nearly as bad as TURBT + mitomycin - no nausea or bladder cramps, much less swimmy head. Just need to build up stamina again ready for the next procedure.

Interesting the different assumptions & attitudes people have.

Many are surprised that I don't have any ongoing symptoms, so I make the point how insidious cancer can be & how important it is to have screening/act on any unusual signs or symptoms. I'll be going to hospital to feel worse not better...

    Tamoxifen

My wife has had surgery, chemo and radiotherapy for breast cancer.  She is now in her 2nd of 5 years on tamoxifen.  She is having all the predicted side effects and she finds it very tough.

I find it tough too in a way.  Because she doesn't want a physical relationship with me she won't touch me, or allow me to touch her.  It hurts most when we are with other people and she is happily tactile and affectionate with them.  It feels like I am the last person she would want to hug.  I wondered how...

    Treatment Days 5,6,7 & into day 8

    Sunday.

What a bloody awful day, woke up with a headache which just got worse and worse, just felt so unwell, was truly miserable, could hardly eat, couldn't even be ar**d to drink really, When Pauline came in to visit got her to phone my girls up & tell them not to come and visit. When I look back on it now think I just spent the day feeling sorry for myself.

    Monday.

Unsettled night but awake about 4.30 & headache more or less gone, generally feeling much better, don't know if the fact...

    Is this really happening??? :-)

I am in complete shock!! Last Thursday I received a phone call from the Mater Hospital saying they had received a referral letter  from my Oncologist and that they wanted to see me on Monday!!

I went, thinking they were going to tell me why any further treatment wasnt possible, as this is what I had been previously told after all my problems last year.

The surgeon wants to do a 40% liver resection, removing ALL my cancer!! It is the same surgeon I saw last year before my health went tits up and...

Keep hope alive, living with secondary cancer 5 years on

On December 2005 I was told I had cervical cancer stage 3B . My treatment was 20 sessions radiation over a 4 week period at 10 minute a day. 17 hours of radium rods. And 6 weeks of chemotherapy the drug I was on was called Cisplatin. I had pain in my lower back ,the consultant told me that due to the amount radiation I received .I had small fractures in my sacrum and I then had a procedure called somentolplast (a type of plaster in the...

7th Chemo with 1 more to go

I'm not sure why I feel the need to blog at this point - it is not something I find easy although I read other people's with interest. In some ways I still have not quite got my head around what seems to have been rather a 'whirlwind' of events since my not even dreamt about diagnosis - I thought I had another case of Mastitis when I mentioned to my GP that apart from the original reason of my daughter having made that appointment on 26 November for me - which was to ask whether he would support...
