Hi My name is Karen and I have been Diagnosed with Anaplastic large cell Lymphoma.I amabout to have my 2nd Chemo, I have 2 kids 13 and 15 who are not coping to well now my hair has started to fall out. Although Iam not curable Iintend to give it the biggest fight of my life and go into remission. I have been reading other blogs and it is good to know that I am not the only one scared out of my wits and the confusion I am feeling is so normal. Anyway just wanna say hi and would love to get to know...
Got
the results back: para aortic metastatic germ cell tumour, seminoma.
Given the range of possible outcomes I’ll take that as a
win - it should respond well to chemo
The tumour is physically impinging on my left kidney, and
so to prevent that failing, and to make sure it’s working properly during chemo,
I need to have surgery before chemo starts. That’s just simple day surgery (no
need for a knife) – and I’ll spare people the graphic details, but it’s simply
a stent to allow...
The scans are now done. Tuesday was a long day with an injection in the am. It took 7 attempts to get a line in as Pat has narrow veins. They finally managed it with a Paediatric Butterfly, which has a fine needle. We then had to go away and come back four hours later. They then had a camera problem unfortunately and were running an hour late. By this time Pat, who has Parkinsons plus other things was getting exhausted, but he managed OK. Staff were very nice indeed. Day two was straightforward...
I received another call from my dad last Night, this is the 3rd call in 3 days after a Mexican stand off as my Sister put it lasting 3.5 weeks
I tried not to react as I heard his voice, but was instantly fearing more hostility. His tone was actually warm and he was quite friendly. Dad was ringing to say go ahead and book into the B&B for Christmas and said that someone had mentioned that the place was nice!
Have now booked B&B and train, so that is Christmas sorted. I don't think it will be...
I've got two appointments tomorrow, one with the original specialist and then straight after that a meeting with the oncologist and nurse. I'm hoping they confirm the existing suspicion that the primary cause is testicualr and this is what has spread through my lymph systm and that I can start the chemo (and I'll assume that is going to BEP, and could start as soon as Friday?). Also steeling myself should the news be different - I'm part dreading the appointment but also want to get it over and on...
My main abdominal scar - all 9 inches of it - has settled down well. Something they don't tell you beforehand is how this will look at first & how it will progress, although I was told the scar would fade to a silver line eventually.
Immediately post op there was an angry red ridge held by staples & my abdomen was uneven and lumpy. I felt a little disappointed at this. Tender & mucky with glue & blood. However, once the staples were removed after 12 days, the ridge soon relaxed flat with...
Wednesday Oct 5th,it has been just 4 weeks since I went to the doctors,in that time I have been scanned(PET and CT) xrayed had a biopsy...the works. Some days I thought I can't have cancer because I feel well and others felt like I wouldn't survive the week. Against advice I had already looked up the various lung cancers/treatments/prognosis. I knew with one type NSCLC I would maybe offered surgery depending on how far advanced it was...good option I thought...get rid of the cancer in one...
Thanks folks for your lovely comments.Thoughts are with you daily

I joined the gym in August 2009, with the intention to get fit and tone up. I had previously been a member of gyms but found it very hard to stay focussed and motivated, and would find myself dropping out after a year. I wasn’t sure that this time round would be ant different. I work full-time as a nurse, so started by going 3 times a week before or after a shift. Workouts would normally be 45 minutes before I would get bored and head for the door. Six months into it, the gym manager...
so everyday i wake up thinking it'l be somehow different or easier but its not... so just after revieving the news that my boyfriends prognosis is now terminal, my grandfather passed away.. all in the same week! i feel so numb.. infact i wish i could cry more but its like my body is giving up on me.. it just wants to do nothing and stay numb....
i just wish i could wake up from this nightmare.. just when i thought it was all over and now its not... does this get any easier.. and... even when...
