    Mum

The last 2 weeks have been tough for Mum and for me. I don.t know what to do ,mum is still fighting but is becoming forgetful and more unsteady. Her moods have been up and down within minutes of each other . I have had to be shouted at and taken it on the chin . this week we are back at the hospital for a check up . I am not sure what will happen but am preparing for the worst no further treatment, I wish I could help more but she gets angry as she wants to do things for herself but just cant

    what do I do now?
Hi My mum is deteriorating following a 2 year battle against kidney cancer which recurred after an 8year remission. I'm feeling pretty lost just now. Things seem to be changing so quickly for her she is struggling to walk now, being sick a lot and is very low. She is still at home but little support, MacMillan nurse went on holiday and there doesnt seem to be anything else to help. mum has a whole pain medication plan but it doesn't seem to be effective anymore. I really want to be more help than...

  • Lost dad to prostate cancer now mum has pancreatic cancer
    Selfish
I feel so very selfish! I had not really been around mum since they told her she had pancreatic cancer, then I took her to hospital for appt and went home and spent night there. I can't lie I was so glad to get back to my happy husband and my daughter who doesn't realise how bleak mums prognosis is. I tried to do things around the house for mum but it's just the same as when she was well, I can't seem to do anything properly. I'm not a messy or dirty person I run my fairly large house and family...

    My lovely Dad
This is my third attempt to write this blog today... It should have been the day my lovely Dad came out of hospital where he has been the last 6 weeks, 60 miles away from his home n family. It's been the hardest day for me so far, don't ask why, maybe that after the district nurse came to inflate the mattress for the hospital bed my Mum now has in the dining room, was the fact that my Dad is coming out on a stretcher. Not the way you'd expect to be coming home! A man who upto Xmas was playing 18...

    Happier Times

I didn't write these blog posts to be all doom and gloom!

The happy ending to the story is that mum is getting better and we are all moving on with our lives with bigger and better things.

It was the hardest part of mine and my families life and although it was tough, I believe that it has made us stronger people. If you feel like it is getting to much to people, let it out to people who understand- I would highly recommend Macmillan for the best advice they could have given me.

    I hope hearing...

    My Life

Its odd to say that I was affected by my mums illness more after than during. I think because we all had to be strong for my mum, I didn't have time to sit around and mope!

After mum had check ups that came back clear and life seemed to get back to normal I thought I would be able to move on and put the bad times behind me.

This was not the case. I started suffering from serious panic attacks and become withdrawn from my former loud and bubbly personality. Rationally I knew all the operations...

    Coming Back

After a year of my mum recovering and check ups, the last thing I expected was for my mum to come back from a standard check up and drop another bomb shell. She was finally getting her confidence back and started back at work- sitting at home by herself all day was driving her a bit stir crazy and she was glad to not be staring at the same 4 walls.

My mum said that she sat in the car for 4 hours before she set off home, she couldn't bear to tell her two children that the disease that ruined our...
