  • My Amazing Dad
    The waiting game begins again...

My Dad has now finished his 4 chemo sessions...so now is the waiting game
again. We find out a week on Thursday (May 16th) whether Dad can have more
treatment (maintenance chemo) or whether we just "wait for it to take its
natural course...". To say I'm scared is an understatement. I am trying to stay
positive but I know that Dad most probably will have to have a scan before they
can do anything....What if it has spread? What if the tumour in his liver has
    shrunk (they said halfway...

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the woods
    Hi

No posts for the past couple of days as I have been very unwell.

I finished the chemo drugs on Saturday, I felt very weak for most of the day but no sickness or nausea. Sunday was a different story though. I woke at 6:30 am and straight to the bathroom, wretching into the toilet, then back to bed, this went on for the rest of the day every hour or so until 8:00 pm, I had been taking my anti sickness meds from day one and even managed to take them yesterday. I didn't eat all day and found...

selfish or is it still early days ?

12 months since rads finished , 18 months since surgeries. I am one year into hormone therapy and boy what a poopy 12 months. Joint  pain, a forced menapause and all that goes with that , and most recently im on a downer with the fellow human race !! . Everyone around me has got on with their lives and seem to think things are back to normal. The only steadfast two are hubby - who struggles because he has clinical depression - so , bless him he has his own worries and usually survives in his own bubble...

So it's been quite a week.

Nothing dramatic, critical or dangerous to health and human kind as we know it but none the less there have been some trying and surprising moments.

3rd session of chemo going quite well. The common side effects are still there. Fingers, feet, lethargy, nausea after pills, small appetite. . . .  Still working

Had his last capec for this session this morning so he's gone to sleep a happy bunny. Note to self - bowel movements will change in 3 days.

    Day 3
    Afternoon folks

Day 3 of the second cycle of chemo and day 2 of the oral meds. I feel fine so far no nausea so all is well.

Have to say I felt a wee touch apprehensive taking the Fludarabine today for some reason, can't explain it but just felt as though it was a confirmation that I am wither I feel it or not unwell. Strange I know picking on that one particularly, only reasoning I have for it was a comment made by the heamo nurse, that, if any of them will make you feel Ill it will be the...

    Today's treatment
    Hi folks

Started the second round of chemo today, I'VE Ritixumab. All went very well, nice environment comfy chair and cheery staff. Start tomorrow on the Fludarabine and cyclophosphamide, For three days. So far so good no ill effects, however that's the way it started the first time. I have different ant emetics this time. Ondansatron I think they are called. I'll start them in the morning prior to the chemo drugs.

I will update over the next few days as the journey continues...

    Horrible Week

Dad passed away last Thursday and I wasn't there. I had gone out for the night, the first time in months. My other two sisters were there, but it doesn't make it any easier.

We have got all the funeral organised and have started clearing out the house. It was heartbreaking taking some things to the tip. Even though we knew it was no good, it didn't make it easier. It's a council rented house and they don't give you any time to clear it out unless you pay the rent. Some furniture my Mam...

    Pre chemo bloods
    Hi

Well, had my pre chemo visit today, and bloods, in the docs words, are "wonderfully normal". So good to hear the doc say I have had a very good start. My bloods are now as follows

    WBC. 4.8

    Neutrophils. 2

    Platelets. 109

    Heamoglobin. 139

    Lymphocyte. 2.3

I know it's very very early days, but it has given me a boost, and I don't feel so apprehensive about Wednesday and the second cycle. I'm sure everyone understands the aprehension and understands that, even though you...

    stoma reversal

I am currently waiting to receive a date for surgery to reverse the stoma I have had since surgery in Septmeber 2012.  I am very frustrated as I had a phone call 2 weeks ago to tell me I am on the shortlist for surgery.  Foolishly I thought this meant it might be soon - I rang today to see if there was news as I fancy a few days away to be told - oh, I haven't put you on the list yet, May is already full so it will be at least June - I feel gutted.  I can't wait to be rid of this stoma - it seems...
