Yesterday evening we went to a very useful session at our local hospital's Macmillan Centre. It was a small informal group of people and their supporters who had started or were about to start chemo. We had interesting discussions with a lead nurse and two experienced chemo patients on all aspects that you worry about: how important is diet?; will the drugs make me really tired?: can I go on holiday? etc, etc.
The emphasis was on how every individual's experience will be different but there are plenty of people to support you. Also you mustn't suffer in silence or your specialists won't be able to adjust your chemo if needed.
There were lots of useful leaflets available and I would highly recomment anyone going to such a session near the start of treatment if it is available locally.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
