My Dad has gradually gone downhill over the last month. Firstly he started getting really really tired and achey...and stopped his daily walk down to the shop to get his newspaper. Two weeks ago tomorrow we went to the hospital for his monthly blood test and nurse consultation. I knew something was wrong. He struggled to walk from the car to the hospital even though we had parked right outside. When we were in the hospital waiting area I remember looking at him thinking he LOOKED ill...for the first...
Birth, death, marriage, divorce ......... those rites of passage. Those moments when you have to pinch yourself for a long time afterwards and think, 'Did that really happen?' Many of the greatest poets have written about the similarities between birth and death. I understand. The whole of the universe revealed and yet....... not quite ......... and yet, sufficient for a person to think ....'Well, what was that? Was it what I think it was? Will I ever be the same...?' And of course, the answer...
A couple of months ago I began writing this blog post, it’s been put off because of not really knowing how to approach this topic. It’s been difficult to write, but thankfully with the right information I’m in control again.

The good news is that he has responded really well to the chemo and radio treatments. The nasty cancer barely shows. So all is looking positive for reconnecting...
Its not easy being a carer...especially for your Mum or someone you are really close to. Recently I have been getting frustrated with people because we ask for help and they say no problem, they come round and say 'what can I do', then call on me and my Dad anytime my Mum needs anything. One of my Mums sisters even said 'she's leaning slightly to one side, and doesn't look very comfortable' so we asked if she had moved her, to which she replied 'oh no, I didn't think I w...
So, again, it's been a while, but there haven't been any dramas which is good news and things are just bimbling along.
Mum's physical health seems to be doing as well as can be expected. She still has issues with her eyes not functioning properly which makes her quite tired and she still feels the tiredness, but she's up and about, has a good appetite (steroids!) and generally quite positive.
I went up for her birthday weekend and spent the whole weekend there. We went out for the...
