Have you ever sat there since your diagnosis for cancer thinking is this it. How long is it going to go on for?
16 months so far for me and and still another 6 to go. I'm getting fed up of this bus journey now and I want to get off,but no matter how many times I ring that bell it doesn't stop.
16 months has been hospitals, hospitals and more hospitals,oh along with no hair, eyebrows and eye lashes and looking like uncle fester. To having an affair with my bed cos I always seemed to be sleeping...
I'm now into the programme of weekly chemotherapy and
daily radiotherapy. I've had two chemos and 6 radios so far. The
chemotherapy involves being on a drip for around 7 hours at a time
but the radiotherapy just involves a 20 minute zap on a huge machine.
Another six to eight weeks to go.
The main issues at the moment are the emerging side effects - severe fatigue and nausea, a lack of saliva and an occasional inability to swallow. These will get worse as the treatment progresses but should...
It was a day in late August , the summer in theUK had been quite good this year and the day i visited my consultant was no exception.
I had gone several times to my GP complaining of piles , sore anus and occasional bleeding .I was recommended Anusol HC and when that didnt work , another prescription steroid cream.
It wasnt very long before i realised that too wasnt working and finally after several visits to my surgery i got examined .A time interval of about 4 months , maybe even longer A week...
It all started in April 2013 with large painless swelling on my neck. Talking with collegues at work and a quick scan of the dreaded internet convinced me that this was something that could potentially be serious. Following two visits to my GP I was refered for an urgent ENT assessment at the local hospital. The appointment came through for 2 weeks into the future and rather than hang around I elected for a private examination and assessment. I had a needle biopsy which confiremd the presence of cancer...
Haven't been on here for a while have been having a bit of a rubbish time, became incontinent due to the tumour in my pelvis wrecking my bladder, which really brought me down. Have had some really bad pain episodes as my tumour started to die and take bits of my insides with it, but at least now it is not visible on scans. They won't say its gone but it's not visible so I hope it is dead, my chemo tablets continue to shrink my lung mets and the side effects have been manageable, I now have lovely...
-But I'm still rolling along.
Saw my urologist today for a routine update. But I have been much worse with pain the last 24 hrs. Told him all my symptoms and finished up on the couch for an examination, -not PR fortunately.
I have a painful left hip, a very weak left leg that won't bear weight and a tender liver edge. Sent straight off for hip/pelvic xrays and blood tests. My urologist came and talked over the Xray results as he was on his way to operate in the same hospital
The urologist...
I cannot believe it will be 4 weeks tomorrow since we lost Dad. It still does not feel real...I still feel like he has gone away somewhere and he will come back. I feel like there MUST be an ending to this horrific pain...the empty, sick feeling to my stomach...but then I realise that he is completely gone...I will never ever speak to him again...I will never ever get into a fit of giggles with him again...I will never see his amazing face again and his eyes sparkle. Dad was one of those people who...
in early summer I bought 2 Groupon offers which would have taken us to Monmouth for a couple of days b n b, then to Wroxeter near Shrewsbury for another 2 days b n b plus a Roman banquet. (I did this last year with my lovely brother and it was wonderful ) I stupidly expected/ hoped that my husband would be reasonably fit and able to at least walk a bit and enjoy the short break as a diversion.
Sadly he isn't well at all and staying in bed all the time , terribly fatigued and in intermittent awful...
