    On to Morphine...
Finally realised that I had to step up pain relief to morphine last night. My account of last night is pretty graphic so skip this blog if you need to... First spoonful at 5pm made me feel a little nauseous, a bit light headed and slightly number to the pain. I soon realised that the initial dosage of one big tablespoon every 6 hours wasn't going to cut it, and at 9pm I had to take another dose. Went to bed and out like a light, felt I had about 8 hours sleep with loads of bizarre dreams, woke up...

    Pain Train Gathers Speed
Started tube feeding yesterday (Monday) evening, and was really lazy by not eating anything by mouth. Made up for it by drinking a thick tasty beverage in the form of a chocolate complan shake (its about as good as it gets!). Stomach gurgled throughout the night. Despite being given the morphine yesterday, after reading the side effects (nausea etc.) I decided to see if I could manage another night on just strong cocodomol. The ccd dosage had been giving 3-4 hours sleep at a time (one before bed...

    Garden Pub Name
I mentioned yesterday about my garden pub which is my little treat and belated chrimbo prezzy and have had quite a few names being suggested.  Our house is named Stanhope (which is an old car, or two seater horse drawn carriage - google it for pictures) and I want that name in the title.  Conventional names such as The Stanhope Arms, Stanhope Tavern, Stanhope Lodge, Stanhope Boozer, and Stanhope Inn,  came immediately to mind, but I would ideally like the name to reflect both hope for the future, and...

  • Getting my head around it
    10.12.13

I've just read my own last blogs as well as those of friends in Macsite.

I come across as a bit angry and complaining.  Pity as I've had a good day.

To set the record straight: I'm feeling well, I've written a letter to dear Dr Onc about what I think he tried to say to me and my pains are much less.  I hope to throw away the crutches soon.

My wife had a crisis of inability to move or reach the toilet yesterday.  We nearly sent for the emergency docs to put her in hospital.  Today she...

    Not Another Manic Monday
And so, into Week number 4 of treatment and I seem to have forgotten the normal monday morning panic of getting back into work after a weekend off, of having to quickly prioritise tasks for the week ahead against all the Monday morning fastballs, and having to rejig my programme to suit. Today, to be honest is just the same as last Monday morning. Woke up tired again, bit of gargling, feeding tube cleaning, bath, breakfast, brush teeth and hit the road for Southampton. Not sure if I am getting used...

The Need to Spend A Penny...

A reasonable nights sleep (in three instalments) and either getting used to pain or it has eased off slightly has seen a more comfortable day come and go.   Actually got out of house and had a trip to supermarket.  The lack of appetite to eat (any) food was matched by a lack of interest in the shopping aisles which used to stock my favourites.  No more curries, spicy chicken, chineses, beer, wine or spirits.  No fizzy drinks, chocolates, biscuits and fresh bread - all off the menu until I am back on...
