Just about when I think things can't get any worse, and even though my consultants, nurses and doctors tell me it will get worse things do, and did so in quite a dramatic fashion today (Wed). A good start to the day saw me reunited with my mobile (had left it in car) although only one battery left on him. Got thru salisbury and southampton traffic and arrived on time at hospital. Had number 23 RT session and then the fun started. After being praised for my bloods for last 4 weeks, yesterdays...
Wow what a difference a day makes and then what a difference 10 seconds makes! Let me explain. After looking and feeling like death warmed up yesterday and being prescribed different pain relief some anti sickness medicine I can take through tube (at last) and some mouth and throat anaesthetic I rewrote my daily ritual and proceeded to carry out the first sitting of my new course of drugs. Wow, suddenly didn't feel too sick, wow actually felt like eating something by mouth (I managed 10 teaspoons...
First time blogging. I was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma about 18 months ago. I have recently started clinical trials. So far I have had only 1 session but have been keeping well. Is anyone else taking part and how are you getting on?

The cosmetic surgeon is under the impression that the implant has come out of the "skin hammock" and that there may be some fluid behind the implant - the ultra sound didnt pick up any abnormal fluid.
So its back under the knife i go.... they are hoping that itll be january, however with my past experience i am not holding out much hope!
I have started physio now and am...
Well, just when i thought the weekend was done and dusted last night proved how unpredictable this battle and journey is going to be. With food completed by midnight, I dosed up on Painkillers and was ready for a reasonable nights sleep. How naive of me to think I was getting on top of things. The cancer decided to make another stand, it knows it is almost defeated, eradicated, destroyed but will just not give up, just yet. And so started the most painful 8 hours I have had to endure yet. Skip next...
As the weekend draws to a close I can now manage to get my nutrition in less that 6 hours through the pump/tube. This will mean I can get some sleep without it after midnight. Most of weekend has been spent either feeling sick, being asleep or being in pain swallowing. Morphine doesn't do much except dry my mouth more, cocodomal helps me sleep and with swallowing for a bit. Tried to force feed a milk shake down via mouth this afternoon - burning sensation of ulcers all around and under my tongue...
About me: I am an ex nurse, now medical Sales Rep. I got divorced earlier this year and have 2 amazing kids. Boy of 10 and girl of 15. I've been through a tough 3 years and I'm finally getting everything in place to move on with my life. That was until a few weeks ago...... Last year I went to the Cancer Genetics clinic and asked to be tested as my Grandmother, her sisters and her brother all passed away with various forms of cancer. Mainly gastric but breast was there too. My granny had breast cancer...
