The Radioactive Man - coping with Head and Neck Cancer

Less than one minute read time.

Hello all

I'm currently in remission for Head & Neck cancer. I'm sure this will sound familiar to some, but I wanted to write about my experiences. I started off by emailing friends and family on a regular basis, and some of them suggested creating on online blog. They seemed to appreciate that I was 'giving them permission' to speak to me about my experiences, as there was an initial reluctance to discuss what was happening - the elephant in the room syndrome.

Anyway, I have created that blog, and I wondered if anyone here would be interested in reading it? If so, here it is:

Hope you find it of some use.

Hello Theo.  Loved your blog, especially the photos.  Wish I could have read it before I started my treatment as you explain it all so well and it would have been great to see what a mask and feeding tube actually looked like before I got mine.  I'm sure anyone just starting out on their treatment will find your blog a great help.  Pleased to hear you are in remission.  If you haven't already found it there is a head and neck cancer group on the site.  Take care x

Hello Margaret - thank you for your kind words. I just wanted my experiences to be of some use. Just starting to explore the various channels, so I'll head over to the head & neck group. Hope you're bearing up well. x

Hello again Theo ... meant to say ' well done ' on your blog, although the photos of your Mask of Doom certainly brought back some nightmares ! I was too ill to ask for mine and it was never offered, think I would have stamped on the thing anyway ...
