    Hairy Wrists!
Whilst my wrist flap scars are healing quite well I have noticed that the skin from my stomach is obviously far hairier that my wrist!!! But at least my wrist wasn't hairy as a friend I made in hospital had the reverse problem and the flap in his mouth is sprouting an awful lot of arm hair. I think I'd much rather the slightly hairy wrist!

    Is It Good News?

I went back to the clinic on Thursday to get results after my op. The clinic was absolutely packed and we didn't get seen for nearly 2 hrs. I had to keep going out for some air it was so hot and I felt like passing out. The first thing my consultant said was "you were right" it was cancer in your left breast!" This is after an MRI and a vacuum biopsy telling me it wasn't likely to be and me having to really stand my ground whilst I felt like the team were trying to persuade me to leave my left breast...

    Check up with the consultant.

Had my check up with the consultant and it was a weird to be back at the RBH. It brought it home to me there is nothing else to conquer now and it's just me allowing my body to recover.

Popped in to work before hand which I think threw me menally because everyone tells you you look great even though you are feeling dreadful inside. Then you feel like you ought to be feeling better than you are then you're down on yourself.

Got to the ENT outpatients for a 3.45 appointment. Same initial...

    Surprise surprise...

So - had scan results back and more good news - the Vem is still working and the tumours have all shrunk a bit further. The lump I found in my right armpit was just one of the chest tumours I have going walkabouts or something... so no new issues. I was slightly relieved UI have to say! So I am now looking more seriously at starting work again - probably from home as I still feel sick a lot of the time and do not fancy the morning drive to work or the early rising!

I have had issues with stomach...

    It's nearly over

Well it's been nearly a month since I updated this blog and it's been a bit of a whirlwind time but for once not because of cancer or chemo or illness but because of usual stuff like staffing levels and unexplained time off and the usual stuff we deal with in our normal lives.  It's been great to be annoyed at work again beause it means normal is returning.  We've regained some social life in the past couple of weeks and the rest of the month is socially active too.  Now that the worst...

Fatigue and Wiltshire a Farm Foods

One thing that has come as quite a surprise is how much worse the fatigue has become over the last 4 or 5 days. I found that even taking a shower yesterday I felt exhausted washing my hair and had to stop for a break. I'm also sleeping for much longer over night so I'm not getting going till quite late morning.

I have been managing a Wiltshire Farm Foods meal each day but I've found now that the soft option is better than the purreed as it has a bit more texture to it. I know part of...

Old scars- neck, wrist and stomach
Just thought I'd do an update on the original operation scars as you kind of forget about them during all that comes with RT. I have been applied a gel like cream called dermatix since the scars lost the scabs. This is pretty expensive gel, but came on prescription. There is a website on how it is supposed to work. I think it's been pretty good stuff. I didn't apply it to my neck during RT but have continued on the wrist and stomach. The actual patch on my wrist has flattened down really...

To have chemo or not to have chemo - that is the question

I haven't updated my blog in a while.  I've been away for a couple of short trips - one with hubby and one with a group of friends - but it was hard for me to enjoy myself as I've been feeling increasingly unwell.

Yesterday we went to Christies.  I won't bore you about the 1.5hr wait for a pointless blood test, or the 2hr wait to see the consultant, or the 1hr wait at the pharmacy, or the fact that we didn't see the consultant at all but one of his registrars.  Actually, his registrars...

  • I'm Getting There
    What Is going on

Today. I should have been attending UCHL. to be assessed for a Cystectomy. all week I have been waiting for a phone call or letter confirming this appointment. none came. so I took It upon myself to find out why.

My god! what a fiasco. I phoned UCHL to find out why I had not been Informed about the appointment. they had never heard of me. they put me through to the clinic. they had never heard of me. after two hour's of being passed from one department to another I gave up. I sat back and had a...

    Two weeks into recovery

It's two weeks since treatment stopped and I'm feeling now that I'm seeing the small steps to recovery now. The phlegm has definately reduced but I do wake up needing to have a good cough and swill my mouth out. Some days I wake up and my tongue has really swollen. Last night I woke at 4am and had a voltarol tablet and it seemed much better when I woke up this morning.

The Wiltshire farm food meals arrived yesterday and I completely cocked up cooking the first one. But after some tweaking...
