Occupational Health - here we go again.
Am off to OH this morning to discuss a phased return to work again. Tried before the summer hols to get back but after being back for a few days came down with a bug wich floored me- I guess this has knocked my confidence. Still trying to be positive but some days its hard as I feel I will never get back to the way I was before my diagnosis. Ive come through the worst ( I hope ) so why is everything so difficult now? I keep telling myself its only a job but ..... Hey ho! Have had a moan now gonna...

    TAC chemo
Hi everyone I am a bit new to this blogging business. I am starting TAC chemo (breast cancer) tomorrow and although there is lots of info on side effects nobody tells you when they start. Can someone give me an idea as my daughter is having her twelve's birthday party on Saturday (she is having 30 friends for a barbeque). Thanks Lari

    Melanoma cancer stage 4
This is my first blog so here goes... I had a malignant melanoma removed in 1993 and after years of regular check ups, and thinking it was all behind me, in April 2009 I discovered a lump and immediately went to my GP. After lots of checks, ultrasound, blood test and MRI scan I was devastated to be told the melanoma cancer had returned as secondary cancer in both lungs and both breasts. It was such a terrible shock! Iinitially I just wanted to cry, then felt angry, but what good would that do...

    bubbling under the surface
I've never been a 'cryey' sort of female. I'm not a drama queen at all, and am quite practical and 'sensible'. But my God, my emotions have never been so near the surface in all my life. After getting goodish results from my own PET scan last month, I've started to go out more, socialise more etc, and as some of you will know, my son's biopsy results were great, so begun to pick up threads of former life. So went to this big charity bash last night which my husband's company (not his co - he works...

    Newly diagnosed with AML
Hello everyone - I was diagnosed five weeks ago with AML - it was a terrible shock as I had been out cycling and felt a bit faint - when I got back to the house still felt a it off - blood tests and bone marrow came up with AML. I am a very young and fit 57 - or should say I was. Apparently because of my bizarre chromozomes chemo only had a very slin chance of a cure - 2-4% so I decided not to put myself through hell and then die anyway. They are monitoring me and so far I have been very well...

Thoughts from behind the frontline - 1
Ok, this is a bit surreal, long story short: Both Dad and fiance Tgirl already post blogs on here so I dont need to go into any detail about whats happening to who and where and why and when... I joked in an email that i'd start writing a blog as dad's were too popular and as competitive as I'm tempted to be, this isn't for that reason. Writing as any therapist will tell you is cathartic, some write poetry, some write songs, some write letters to people just to tear them up.... purely becuase its...

    Alternative therapy
Hi all, We have heard that there are a lot of 'alternative' types of therapy out there. My wife has now completed 8 sets of FEC chemo and we would like to see if we could find something to complement the treatment she has already had. The doctors have ruled out radiotherapy or surgury due to the secondaries in liver and possibly bones. I suppose we just dont want to do 'nothing' now. Any recommendations greatfully recieved.

I FEEL SO USELESS AND AFRAID
I have just come back from the hospital where my darling Ray had been told that the cancer in his liver has broken through the chemotherapy (doctors jargon). He was rushed in a week ago today with and very bad infection and his stomach very distended. They did CT Scan yesterday and told us the news at 6.46pm tonight that there really is not much hope. They are going to drain the fluid off his stomach tomorrow and give him diuretics to ease the build up. They have put a morphine line in his...

    getting a grip...
Getting a grip is hard. I'm trying to get a hold on the present with a dread to the future - never been an optimist!! But finding the waiting period before Mum's op pretty unsettling along with the potential treatments in future. Feel so selfish about these feelings and angry with the whole bloody thing and what my Mum and so many other people have to go through - makes me want to scream. These feelings make it so hard to carry on with my normal routine which however tricky it becomes I will do because...
