fingers fred!! sad story of a young skipper
    "FINGERS"I

    My nickname, didn't we all have one, was "fingers", because it was usually my fingers that interfered with things often leaving a once perfectly working machine in small and useless pieces. I was death to clocks;
any clock that had the misfortune to be left
    near me rarely functioned again.

The pursuit of knowledge into to the wonderful world of mechanics and all other moving things led me into more trouble as a youngster than I care to remember.

    My Brave Boy

Brandon has had another block of chemo and isnt doing that well. He is losing weight even when hes taking his build up drink so they are trying him on new tablets to see if that will help. This chemo is knocking it out of him this is only the 3rd of 7 , he was only ment to get 7 blocks but the nurse said yesterday hes down for 8 to 16 blocks and i went mental. I havent seen his consultant since august just before brandon had his surgery. I said he wont be taking any more until the doctor speaks to...

    Anti-Climax

Having spent the most of last night tosssing and turning and zipping through the tv channels finally daylight arrived.

Had a very sickly cup of coffee to get me motivated then jumped into the shower for my big date with the consultant. Arrived 10 minutes early and had to wait another 20 mins to be called in by the nurse to have my dressings taken off and stitcches trimmed.

Imagine my embarrassment when I clocked eyes on my file on her desk and saw the post-it note stuck on the front 'HISTOLOGY...

    Thursday drich and dreary

Thank-you for the kind support and cyber hugs, I really needed it.  Saw the GP last night purely for a BP test. Broke down in tears and begged for time off work. He very kindly gave me a flu jab, upped my anti-depressants and booked me off till Monday.

Must say staying in bed till midday was bliss, had to get up to fetch the two doggies I am looking after for the next few days. Let's hope they understand my lack of energy and malaise.

Work seems pretty understanding, am checking work mail, can...

    Here I go again

I lost my husband 3 years ago to Mesothelioma. We adored each other and I miss him very much.

Life has been hard this past 3 year I have struggled to go on without him.

I have met a lovely man with many of my husbands qualities and he loves me very much. I love him too but not in the same way as I did my husband.

Both men are alot of years older than me. Funnily enough both have the same name.

Anyway my reason for being on here is that 3 months ago my bowel perforated and I was diagnosed with...

    She says she's had enough.

    Hi All.

Hubby went to visit the Mother in law in hospital yesterday evening. It was quite a tough visit for him. MIL was saying she's had enough. She's in pain, can't get to the commode in time even though it's right next to her bed. She's been telling him it's no way to live and she can't bear the loss of dignity.

I'm hoping that this is a phase that passes and that she can find something that gives her the optimisim to continue the fight. If she doesn't it may speed...

8 weeks today since Dad died.

I Hate Thursdays !! I wake up with a dread now every thursday morning as I know that it signifies another week since my Dad died.

I told him that his Dad could'nt go as he was at work but promised that I would go. well, I did...

    Chemo day 1.

Yesterday was my first day of chemo. Very anxious about it as didn't know what to expect. It was all explained very well to me at pre chemo assessment, but sometimes hard to put it into perspective until you have actually been there.

Arrived around 3pm and was met by my lovely chemo nurse. Settled into a nice reclining chair and veins checked. I have the most brilliant veins at the moment so hope they last.

Fluid set up, then given iv anti sickness and steroids. Ok, so far so good. Given 6...

    a bit better

Hubby is showing a tiny bit of improvement, his oxygen levels are getting better and they are gradually going to wean him off the respirator.  Finally got the drain in him today and drained a lot of fluid from his tummy already so by tomorrow he should be much more comfortable.  He is very aware and alert even on the respirator and hoping to get him out of ICU and back into the oncology ward very soon.  Still has loads of fluid in his legs and feet and they tell me that is not going to be helped by...
