Telgirls dance with cance.....day 4 and a half

Just got back from the doctors and the lump is nothing to worry about whoooooo so hopefully I will manage to get some shut eye tonight, thanks fr the offer Carol but hopefully the fact that I feel knackered but overwhelmingly relieved will result in a silent night.

Have also taken the bull by the horns and booked my haircut for Wed afternoon so looking forward in a weird way to that. Might just have to go and spoil myself tomorrow and have a foot massage mmmmmmm sounds good to me.

    Telgirls dance with cance.....day 4

Another pants night trying to find a comfortable position to lie and get some sleep but managed at last to fall off about 3 ish (seems to be the new witchinh hour for me these days) and was rudely woken at 5.45 by hubby's new all singing all beeping alarm clock. Managed to be civil and shared a coffee before he departed for his daily drive into London and went back upstairs witht eh idea of geting maybe just another hour before the rest of the house woke. Suprisingly I was wide awake and sleep evaded...

    Update 26/10/09

Needless to say the steroids never worked a bit, I didnt have high hopes for them in the first place but tried to remain positive.  The pain clinic called on Friday they still did not have his blood results yet and they want to see him today so I am just sitting at my desk having lunch before I go over the road to meet mum and dad for this appointment.  I am really lucky that I a) work on the main hospital site in Aberdeen and b) that the end of life hospice/pain clinic is just 2 minutes away from...

    hanging on

Hubby is holding his own, not getting alot better but not worse.  His blood levels are slightly better, oncologist said they would normalize on their own after the chemo starts to leave his body.  His blood pressure is still very low and needing heavy meds to support it which is a very big concern.  Still on the respirator as he is not strong enough to push out the air from his lungs.  But he has passed the 48 critical hours.  He is still very critical though.
His entire family was here to visit over...

Not used to feeling so helpless

It's been a few weeks since my last post, and Dad is getting weaker. He has been so brave so far, and hasn't complained, but yesterday when I saw him he said he had almost had enough. He was so active before this wretched illness took hold, now he is afraid to move because each time he does, he has a coughing fit and ends up struggling for breath and completely exhausted. He's not really eating a great deal now, so Mum is also losing weight and looking worn out. Friends are all being great, visiting...

    Yesterday

    Yesterday was a busy day.

We all went to church in the morning and prayers were said for Sylvia during the service. We arrived back home had a quick lunch. About 2pm my sister in law arrived with her carers to go for a visit to see mum at the hospital. They were there for just under an hour and the sister in law behaved herself wonderfully which is quite a rare event as she has no concept of the volume of her voice or the appropriateness of her words. As they were leaving Sylvia thanked Hubby for...

    How may we help you?

My name is Bill and I've been following this community with great interest for quite some time.  Perhaps, I can be helpful to those of you who are living with kidney cancer.  I was diagnosed about 20 years ago, and I had the good fortune to respond well to sugery alone.

In 1990, I joined the nascent Kidney Cancer Association (KCA).  At the time, this was the world's only charity dedicated to the eradication of renal cancers.  I worked as a volunteeer and joined the KCA board of directors several...
