    Trial Run

It's Wednesday, October 28th - bit of non day weatherwise (dull, grey skies with a bit of a chilly wind) reminds us of home on the Isle of Man. Andrew had quite a good night - he's now waking up every 2 hours during the night to visit the loo. His appetite is good too, eating 5 small meals a day which keeps me pretty busy either cooking or shopping. He still looks pale and wan and feeling very tired most of the time but he is in good spirits and starting to sound like his old self....

  • Myeloma, Let's Talk!
Efficacy of High Dose Chemo and SCT

Many of you may be aware that there is a RAGING debate occurring in the Myeloma community among patients AND medicos about doing a SCT at all. The reason for this debate is that the new novel therapy drugs "can" be used to beat back Myeloma, in a maintenance therapy sort of format.  Studies are currently starting in the US to address the claims of doing this.  They are collecting the patients own stem cells, in case, and then putting them on a new novel therapy cocktail, monitoring them,...

just want the world to slow down

First time I've written one of these, just feel that there is so much i need to get off my chest but have no one to say it too!.  This time last year i was looking forward to Christmas oblivious to the fact my world would fall apart the day before Christmas when my dad was told he had advanced kidney cancer and the chances - 1 in 10. SInce then its been a roller coaster of no treatment available, then were lucky enough to get on to sutent, that worked at first but 2 months ago they said it had...

    Reflecting back on it all.

I finished chemo therapy in June.( I've got an endometrial cancer at Grade 111C - it had spread from the womb area to the pelvic and aoarta lymph nodes).

Tomorrow I'll have my very last Radio Therapy treatment appointment.

I've had RT every day since August 5th 2009 (apart from a one week break).

I can't wait.  I'm so excited. It will all be over soon.

The scar and the cancer damage was too extensive for one set of 35 days of Radio Therapy, so I had to have two sets. An eternity...

    Having Doubts re Chemo

Now almost 6 weeks since I had surgery for anterior bowel resection after they found a cancerous polyp in my sigmoid colon.  With cancerous cells found in 4 lymph nodes out of the 34 they took out nearest the polyp.  All this started only about 2 months ago can't believe it's happening to me really.  It's all been such a shock for husband and kids, daughter expecting her first baby at the end of March.  Due to go to hosp to have pic line fitted for 6 months chemo on Nov 12th, dreading it, people...
