    headache

I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics I was given on Monday! I woke up Tuesday morning with the most horrendous headache and a rash from top to toe. I know I am allergic to erithromycin and can now add penicillin to that list too.  I havent had antibiotics many times in my life so I think thats why this is only becoming apparent now...it never ends does it!!

So its now Thursday and I still have a headache and I went to my GP this morning who didnt seem too worried but neither did she give...

Going out for walks ever day

Now that the snow and ice have gone, I have been going out for walks every day for about an hour or an hour and a half.

We live in a village so there are plenty of walks close by.

I will have to get in the habit of doing this, it seems like regular exercise is good for stopping bowel cancer returning. Don't know if that is true but it can't do any harm.

I guess healthy eating, exercise, low cholesterol, lower blood pressure etc are good for all conditions including dementia - according...

A long (and sometimes lonely) road

So here we are, almost 6 months since we were warned to 'expect the worst' when Dad struggled to survive pneumonia and sometimes it feels as if we're all caught in some sort of No Mans Land. As there is no more treatment possible, there are no more hospital visits, x-rays or scans - indeed, there's probably not much point.

But for those of us watching him in his daily struggle to have some sort of quality of life, it's extremely hard not knowing what we're likely to face in the next...

Well now its a waiting game!

    Hi

I have been supporting my father since August  when he was incorrectly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He was not strong enough for chemo and although the gastro doctor put in a metal stent it did not clear the bile that had caused his jaundice.

He has now been referred to another hospital and a very good team that have biopsied his liver to try and confirm PSC a liver disease and they plan to remove the metal stent he does not need.

What a few months! I thought getting into a new year things...

    Results

Well I guess the news is good.

They said they have found the tumor early and I have been officially staged as 1B.

So they have booked me in for a hysterectomy. If my lymph nodes are clear then than that is all the treatment I will need so I guess I should be grateful that it looks like I wont need chemo/radiation, but am just struggling so much with the fact that we wont be able to have a family. It just seems so unfair, and to have that snatched away from you so quickly just makes what should be good...

    Walking on eggshells.

Well, my husband had his 10 days radiotherapy in Dec.09 (not Nov.as I said previously) which he sailed through  with only minor tiredness.

Christmas and New Year were spent very quietly, on our own. How difficult it is to make conversation when both are watching the same television programmes and only talking to the MacMillan Nurse every ten or so days.

The only follow-up appointment my husband has is with the Oncologist on the 18th Feb. Our Mac Nurse says that this is only to ask, 'How did you cope...

    Struggling

Well am finding it really difficult tonight so thought i just would write some stuff down. Get it out there and then maybe I can get some sleep.

Have my appointment with my consultant tommorrow to find out what treatment plan is. Except I already know whether it is just surgery or chemo/radiation either way my husband and I will never be able to hav the family we wanted. Im only 28. I know I should be focussing on getting better and staying alive but I am just stuck dwelling on this and cant seem...

    (15) First impressions count ....

    …. but aren’t always right!

Hands up … who amongst us judges others on their first impression of them? If we’re honest I think we all do to some extent.

I should know not to really, considering I have great fun changing the impressions people make of me!

Roll back the clock to diagnosis day. Everything happened backwards anyway, secondaries were diagnosed first, the next day the primary was confirmed and then in to the office of the last person to be introduced, the...
