Bernie was diagnosed with Brain Cancer in July,'09 and underwent chemo, surgery and radio and so is well aware of this dreadful disease. His treatment...

    How do I prepare myself?

My dads in a hospice at the moment  because he's losing weight, suffering with dizzyness and nausea. When we were told in December 2009 that his camcer was terminal and he had 2 years maybe, I thought once we get his meds sorted we'll get him out and start living the rest of his life.

But my family think I need to start preparing myself and I'm in denial about how long he's actually got left. But how do you prepare yourself?

When he went into the hospice on Thursday I really thought...

Warning! Expletive laden rant about doctor

Because I'm under 2 different teams, endocrinology and oncology, I'm used to conflicting opinions and different methods of doing things.  And it seems to me, that every doctor I've seen says something bloody different to the last one.

But today, I've seen a total arse of a doctor.  I left the oncology dept this morning so wound up I had to have a cinammon whirl at the station, and I've been trying to cut down on cakes and biscuits.

After having scan in Jan,  the endo doctor told ...

    Here goes
    Hi

My husband was diagnosed with stage 3 Lung Cancer at the end of February/start of March 2009.
We were told it was non operable because of where in the lung the tumour was but would treat with aggressive chemo and radiotherapy.
His treatment ended on 14th July and we then had to wait until October for CT scan to see how it had gone.
So far so good, tumour had shrunk and cancer had not spread, only time would tell if the tumour was still active or not and he was put on steroids to help...
