An intro to me amd mine

    Hi

I am Val. My husband, Ron, was diagnosed with mesothelomia at the end of Nov just days after his 61st birthday. We currently live in France and I thought that as well as recording my feelings and fears it might be of interest to others to know how the French system differs from the NHS. It is a good service and waiting times are virtually unknown but I am not sure that I would rate it at no 1 in the world as some publications would have you believe. It is also not free.If you are affiliated to...

    Chapter 8

Joe has been in the Severn Hospice at Shrewsbury for 11 days now.  For anyone reading this blog who has any misgivings about hospices please read on.  The Hospice is fantastic, full of warm and welcoming people who truely care.  The support we have received over the last few days has really strengthened both our bodies and minds to fight this bloody terrible disease.  Sadly Joes pain is still an issue, he had a CT scan on friday to try and determine what is going on.  He had a really bad night on friday...

    Making quality count
As part of Macmillan’s policy team I am working to make sure the NHS provide improvements in cancer care. This has its difficulties as they amount of money available to spend on cancer is not going up as much as we would like. Although we are fighting this we have to work with the reality, so we want to give some suggestions to the government of why giving good care saves them money. Have any of you got examples of how, by getting the support or information you needed, this actually saved the...

Karen's Catch-Up #13 (now is NOT a good time to get superstitious!)

Hi guys - very long (haven’t checked it so hope it makes sense!)

    January 19th

After 26 days, I was finally going home! Car was loaded before my final radiotherapy session. A ‘review’ with a doctor which lasted all of 60 seconds. “Any problems?” “No, but can you tell me if I’ll be scanned before stem cell transplant?” “No, I can’t” ”OK then. Bye”. Nurse said I might feel a bit nauseous for a couple of days and to keep using the cream. Then I was off. Spent the evening catching up with the...

  • Knocked Sideways!
    Lymphatic Fluid

    Hi,

I'm two weeks post surgery after have wide local excision and lymph node removal for BC.  The problem is that my lymphatic system is all confused and the area where they used to be keeps filling up with fluid.  Have had three aspirations now and my nurse (and I) not keen to keep sticking a needle in and draining.  Have been told this will sort its self out eventually, has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks

    New Journey

    Hello All

I have not done any blogs for months although I log in every day to see how you all are. A quick recap for those of you who don't know me.  Diagnosed last June with acute myleoid leukaemia - right out of the blue - no previous symptoms but felt faint one morning when out cycling.  I have the strange chromosome 5 problem which meant that chemo was only going to give me a very very slim chance so I decided not to take it.  Was given about 8 weeks to live but am still here 8 months later...

    There's a Vibe ... and unstoppable forces

I think it is comfort food, and a small glass of something refined for this exciting instalment.
Friday was CT scan result day.  Don’t we just love them!
Our Hero, after the perfect Goldilocks bowl of porridge, which is not too hot and not too cold, and is sweetened with honey and cream, takes himself off into the mists to do a little more on a mural he has been working on.   There are bills to be paid, he tells The Meddlesome, as he equips himself with his wrap-around shades and other...
