    Emotions about terminal cancer

It is a release to be able to put into writing what has been happening recently.

Keith had his scan 2 weeks ago, and has been in a lot more pain since then.  We had to call out the duty doctor last week on Friday night because his pain control medication was not adequate. I felt so helpless not being able to do anything except be there for him. He was admitted to hospital and as he hadn't been able to eat they put him on a hydrating drip, then a catheter.

All sorts of pain relievers were given...

    round 3

Well here I am , getting ready for a mastectomy next tuesday. It'll be the 3rd surgery and I'm quite annoyed! I asked them to do this day 1 and they resisted. So, I said ok a WLE will do. Then, they come back and ask to do more because of further DCIS. I again asked about a mastectomy and they resisted. And THEN, they come back and say, oh actually, we do need to do a mastecomy.

I have had quite a few problems after this latest surgery. The wound opened, the breast became so swollen it...

  • WLE AND SPILT SKIN GRAFT (CONTAINS PHOTOS OF A GRAPHIC NATURE)
I KNEW THIS WAS COMING...MAYBE NOW I SHOULD HEED THE WARNING!

    Hi

just got back from plastic dressing clinic. Lead nurse saw me today and cards were laid on the table.

    • some areas healed around the edges of the wound but the rest has gross over-granulation throughout.
    • no infection today but possible high bio-burden in the wound
    • if the swelling in the leg is not controlled then the wound will not heal
    • compression with double tubigrip tried today and reasses tuesday and to only change if anything comes through to the tubrigrip
    • this will have some effect...

  • Ramblings of a Bad Fairy
    Question time.....

    …..ponderings, Bad Fairy style.

Why does it seem that only my white hairs are falling out with this chemo and not the dark ones? My yellow Labrador seems to “melt” more than the black two do, maybe there‘s an explanation in there somewhere! Or maybe there are just more white ones to fall out in the first place.

Why are young children so accepting and resilient when life throws them some tough stuff to deal with?

Why do I manage to set the smoke detector off whenever...
