round 3

Less than one minute read time.

Well here I am , getting ready for a mastectomy next tuesday. It'll be the 3rd surgery and I'm quite annoyed! I asked them to do this day 1 and they resisted. So, I said ok a WLE will do. Then, they come back and ask to do more because of further DCIS. I again asked about a mastectomy and they resisted. And THEN, they come back and say, oh actually, we do need to do a mastecomy.

I have had quite a few problems after this latest surgery. The wound opened, the breast became so swollen it was almost twice as big as the other one and the latest is that I have 'an infection' which means taken antibiotics which are playing havoc with my tummy.

Anyway, c'est la vie!

Good Morning Val, just read your blog and feel total apathy for your situation.  I've been through br.ca and am one boob down now but at the time I felt like a piece of meat not human - our emotions are heavy enough re our feminity let alone being treated like another br.ca statistic.  I know the medics are trying to save our lives but they seem to forget we are women with feelings, fears.  I sincerely hope your surgery goes according to plan and you can overcome this horrendous moment in time for you.  Take care, keep us informed and I wish you strength.  Oh, and please let the drs. know about your tummy as the antibiotics may need changing.  I hope you are getting free prescriptions, if not, make sure you ask your doctor.  Ann

    Hi Val,

You have my sympathy, when will these people realise that nobody know your own body better than you. They ask whats wrong you tell them and they give you treatment for something else. But you stuck with it and eventually the penny dropped, all

that suffering and pain could have been avoided if they had of listen in the first place. Good Luck in the future, hope all goes well.

Take care and be safe.Big Hugs Sarsfield.xxx

I can get free prescriptions? I get them on my maternity card for another month but It'd be good to know for after that. I thought I had to pay?
