THE BIG C THE WORD NO ONE LIKES TO SAY!

Less than one minute read time.

Well day 6 after my Mothers 14 hour operation and still cant really believe this has happened.  There has NEVER been cancer in our family and then out of the Blue around Easter this year my Mum was told, you have jawbone cancer and you will need a big operation......  Well I had never even heard of jawbone cancer but god I have found out so much in such a short space of time.

    Hi Poppy,

All the Best to your Mum and yourself. Cancer is a 6 letter word and its just that, it can effect anyone any time anywhere. Both you and your Mum are in for a long haul. You are going to need all your strength caring and understanding for the time a head. So think positive, and dont forget to stay on this site for Help and caring and loving and most of all the people on the site are here to help so if you need it just ask. There will always be somebody her to talk to and Listen if you have any queries or questions just ask. Good Luck to you and your Mum.

    Hi Sarsfield

Thanks for the message, I have read your profile and I would like to ask you how you comunicate now do you use a board or computer or something else.  We at present are using a white board but mums arms and hands are not that strong and she does not seem to write whole words yet and she can not say any words and its so frustrating for her and us.  Now the drugs for her pain have made her go la la and she does not seem to know whats going on.  I would of thought that a week after her operation she would be a bit better?  Anyways hows you and your lovely wife doing?  Would be lovely to hear back from you, by the way my name is Tracy and Poppy and Issy are my dogs.

    Take care love Tracy xxxxx

    Hi Tracy,

Sorry for taking so long to answer.

Im House bound, my wife Angela is fairly good at lip reading when she wants to be. If I do happen to go down the town the buses are really handy and if I have to do some shopping I make a list of the things I need and when I go into the shop ,point to the item no problem. If somebody comes to the house, that I dont want to come in I have an notice that says GO AWAY, and if I want  them to COME IN.my biggest problem that  your Mum will have to deal with is the phone..you just hope they leave a message on the answering machine.there is a voice enhancer called the Provox

but that dosent work for me as I have no Muscles left in my neck that I can use.if you google PROVOX  you will see what I mean. In the meantime I hope your Mum is getting on well, and you look after yourself. Its going to be very frustrating for you both.
