    last chemo (for now!)

Well today was  the day - last session (until the next recurrence), and as usual arrived at the normal time (9.15am) drugs arrived at 10.45am, and between changing over bags I 'bleeped' for at least 20 minutes each time, so left the hospital at 5.30pm from a 5 hour treatment.  Solitary room and an upright chair did not help matters at all, but the staff shortages are ridiculous now.  Hopefully by the time I have to go back the new staff will be experienced and be able to get the drip in first...

    Our 1st macmillan visit

A macmillan nurse came out today and she has doubled his doses again and also added steroids to the mix too  He is extremely uncomfortable and is virtually bed ridden. The pain is very very bad and i really hope this new dosage works....all he wants is some pain free time to spend with us and enjoy his grandkids.
I spoke to my auntie today and she was talking as if it was nearly the end.....i don't think it is....my dad has always been so strong.

How can I love my cancer

How can I love my cancer when all I want is for it to go away.

I returned today from a week abroad to find a dear friend same age same condition passed away he was a fantastic guy and I will miss his emails.

Four and a half years of living with a terminal illness and yet not feeling ill except when I took their treatment.

I had to learn quickly how to accept the side effects and condition my mind and body to take control.

Now I am taking a break from the drugs I worry about the cancer becoming...

feeling bit down and out don't know why

Hi to all, not sure where to begin. Feeling pretty rough for the last week or so and not really sure why. Been taking Ibandronic Acid for the last month and can only assume these are some of the side effects that go with it. To start with I have a pain in the middle of my chest which my GP says is a pulled muscle, ok but hurts like hell.I have a frozen shoulder right side from using my wheelchair which is too wide and my right hip hurts,(GP diagnosis bursitis), can't take any anti-inflammatory pills...

    Help and advice needed

Hiya,  In December 2009 my mum was told she had two tumours in her pelvis about 12 centimeters long and on New years eve was told she had 50% chance of survival.  She started a 6 weeks course or radio therepy and at the end was told the cancer hadnt gone but had shrunk massively and much more than they expected and after having one more session of radio therepy and 3 lots of brachey was told they were very confident she would be in remission within 4 months.  Two months later she had a scan and  again...

Thanks so much for your comments John. I have not been told i am to have anything with the doxyrubicin but maybe i will. I am to see my specialist just before i am shown around the chemo clinic on Friday, perhaps i will get some sort of prescription as well? I hope i get the same response as you did, any amount of shrinkage would make me so happy.

Persimmonar, i have read your blogs with interest...

    RACE FOR LIFE

Good luck to all those who, like me, are doing the Race For Life today.

Special good wishes to Barb - show Plymouth what you are made of!

Thanks Marsha for your words of encouragement - I'm not sure I will be running like the wind - more chance of passing it than running it !

    HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE
