    When should you demand answers?!?!?

Well mum went into hospital today for her hickman line putting in :) treatment will be easier from here on in!

She received her first treatment today - not chemo but a 3 hour radioisotope infusion to help with the pain in her bones.

To be honest I have no idea if or when they will start chemo every time I've asked in the last week they just keep saying they are waiting to know from the big hospital which treatment will suit her best. It's that pesky little voice in my head that keeps shouting...

  • Madmadge's life without John
    The Funeral and after

First of all, I had to create a new Blog because no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't see the usual directions 'Write a new Blog post' - is there something wrong with the site?

John's funeral was more perfect than I could have expected.  Jo and I arranged for the hearse to come to the flat and so many people turned up that my little pad was bursting at the seams.  The hearse was late because of traffic and this made me smile because John hated traffic queues with a passion.  I could...

    A wee smile lol ;0)

Just thought I'd share something with you that I heard today while in the waiting room of the dental hospital.

A nurse walked along the corridor past the reception desk and said loudly to the girls there, "I should wear one of those speedometer things that measures how many footsteps you take in a day!"

I had a quick peek to see if anyone else noticed what she had said, but, all sat stoney faced, so either they hadn't noticed or were, like me, trying not to laugh lol.

    Christine...

    My mum

Today I was at the Dental hospital with my mum.

She has been complaining of a having a really sore mouth for a while now. She phoned the doctor's surgery who advised her to let the pharmacist have a look which she did. The pharmacist prescribed bonjela for ulcers, but she has a sore on her cheek which she thought perhaps her dentures was causing.

Eventually she went to her dentist who told her she wasn't happy with the growth on her cheek. A week later the growth had increased in size. An urgent...

  • The mysteries of Mo
    September 7th 2011 (pt 2)

Took Mo to the doctors today at 3.30pm bit of a trek for her but managed,Brian took us down to the surgery to save me having trouble parking the car, helping Mo out ,walking to the surgery door things like that. The doctor asked Mo what she was worrying about most, she tried to answer and engage but found it hard with the tumour.I said to the doctor the need for emotional support and physical help I personally was finding hard as I am with Mo 24/7,watching things happen and Mo trying so hard to control...

  • The mysteries of Mo
    September 7th 2011 (pt 1)

Not a good day for me I feel like I'm surrounded by indians, out of ammo and waiting for the cavalry to turn up.I have so many questions to ask like "How much exercise is considered enough without wearing Mo out?" "Is this trip to the doctors today going to wear her out & bring back the seizures?" "Can she wash her hair & have a bath?"or "Is it too early yet?" let alone how i'm going to do it, getting Mo in & out of the bath with her unsteadiness and balance problems. Now I also have started to feel...

    On a lighter note

Ok so my first blog was rather negative. Apologies for the rants of an unstable woman who is trying to deal with the possibility that she has cancer.

I never realised how your life can change so drastically with the mention of one word. Although I should as my dad died of lung cancer and my mum had breast cancer last year - but she is fine and all clear now.

I have gotten through the day by listening to radio 4 - never ever listened to it before - I was always a Radio 1 girl in my youth - (I'll...

Hit us like a smack in the teeth!

Yesterday (Wed 7 Sep 11), my Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer derived from her bowel.  She has been unwell for a number of years, has cirosis of the liver, anaemia, diabetes, polyps plus a number of other complaints.  The doctors have given her months to live which is difficult to comprehend, I mean, how long is a piece of string?

We are all naturally devastated but trying to remain positive and enjoy the rest of her life.  She has four grandchildren aged 3 - 8 and is shell-shocked.  She recently...
