Just to update that I am being discharged...just waiting for meds as usual. The appointment was ok, the radio therapy process was explained to me and was nothing I hadn't already learnt. I was shocked to hear that there is a 1 in 3 chance of reoccurrence of my sarcoma type without radio therapy and 1 in 10 after radio therapy which makes me take the cancer more seriously....if that makes sense! Of course I'm scared as don't want to go through this again, but my discharge from hospital has made me...

I'm currently in hospital recovering from surgery to remove a sarcoma and plug the hole it came from. I should be feeling happy as I've been told I should be able to go home on Saturday but I feel anxious and very homesick. I've also been told I have my first Oncology Appointment at st James tomorrow. I have no idea what to expect not sure I'm able to face up to the fact I have cancer!
3 1/2 weeks of being wrapped, packed and stacked, the ticks in the boxes and the numbers added to the statistics folder, time for a sit down and a cuppa tea ..... wrong.
Appointments with medical and radiation oncology turned up a treatment regime, easy they said, we will poison and irradiate you at the same time, that should kill the freeloader, or at least give it a bad headache.
Ok, ok, the description was a bit rough. The treatment would comprise 6 cycles of Carboplatin/Paclitaxel chemotherapy...
Hi everyone,my dad got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 3 weeks ago and he's already down to 7 stone.im finding this all so very hard.
Hi all, just finished my 5 week chemo and radiotherapy now awaiting operation to remove tumour, the last couple of weeks I've suffered with constipation going to the loo all the time and straining, but hardly anything coming out. Feeling very uncomfortable, just wondered how long it normally takes to feel normal again.
I've just reread my post from earlier in the week and I did sound gloomy!
Well today is certainly another day.
I've managed a couple of nights sleeping well and feel so much better.
I had my fourth Cetuximab treatment yesterday. The first thing I'm given is a selection of anti-nausea and painkiller tablets which are fine but quite a few of them. My PICC line is flushed and redressed. They recommend that the PICC line is redressed every week. I'm 'fortunate' that I'm having treatment every...
I need to go back a little in time, no, not to Ceasar or Genghis Khan, but just to early 2015.
I developed a cough, not a bad cough but it was there. Being a smoker I put it down to that and carried on with my daily life.
Forward to June and came the news that the company that I have worked for for over 10 yrs was closing its doors and I was out of a job, not good news at any time but when you are 58 your prospects are not that great. I managed to get a casual start at my local Supermarket stocking...
I’ve just finished my last Folfox. Everything seems to have gone ok so far.
No problems with my PICC line which made the Oxaliplatin infusion much easier. The 5FU pump worked fine and was replaced on schedule on Sunday afternoon.
However, I am so tired!!
I felt fine on Monday morning and went into work. I did start to feel tired in the afternoon but this passed. And I slept incredibly well on Monday night.
Since Tuesday morning I have barely been able to do anything. I managed to get to hospital...
Yes, I found one of those lumps you don't want to find at the top of my left breast. Deep down I wanted to ignore it, but didn't, as I had always told myself 'if I ever find a lump, I will get it checked straight away' and not ignore it like my mum had with hers. My mum's lump was around the collar bone and a secondary for lung cancer, which sadly took her from me. I decided I would front it out and get it checked out, after all I was convinced it would be 'nothing'. I went to my GP and was referred...
