    Hospital time v Home time

    Hello all!

I have no excuses.  I have been lax and should have attempted a blog before now.  Lets face it, there has been ample opportunity with the amount of time I have spent in hospital or hospice.  Maybe I should have been blogging instead of watching back episodes of Supervet.

Thing is.  I just didn't feel like it.  I couldn't seem to raise the energy to get the laptop out or the energy to get my brain moving.  I guess you could blame that on drugs or really being incapable (which on some...

  • My Journey at 23
    Chapter 4; Small update

I should get my results letter tomorrow or Tuesday, fingers crossed!

The last few days I've been plagued by a cold and I've gone through hundreds of tissues!

Last night I had nausea and cramps and this morning I've got very bad cramps and a dodgey stomach! Plus headaches and backache it's safe to say I'm feeling sorry for myself.

Quite proud that I've been so patient for this long but it's running out and I just want to know!

I'll do an update when I've received...

    GETTING READY FOR TUESDAY'S TURBT

I am pleased with myself. I needed a dressing gown for hospital but having to put £60 away for bus fares and taxis next week meant I couldn't buy a new one. I just checked one of the local charity shops and picked up an almost new, anklelength, hooded bathrobe for £1.50!

I'm in a bit of pain today, wee is a bit pink. Luckily I just picked up my Tramadol prescription. I've taken two so it should ease off soon. I'm still relatively calm. Reading everything I can find on bladder cancer...

    Consultants agree

Consultants oncology and surgical agree I can have 3rd rchop - done last Tuesday and all ok after 2 days - a bit constipated

Consultants agreed to leave fistula and intestine wear and tear exposed by shrinking lymphoma (hurrah) until later

But on low residue diet so doubtless constipation will get worse?

    Still - feel fine today

    WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TURBT

Five days to go and I'm wondering what to expect after the TURBT. I have barely any pain at present but I have a prescription for painkillers ready for Tuesday if I need them. I got some pantyliners in too. I'm cooking for the freezer this week so neither of us will need to do too much cooking in the first few days. Any other tips welcome.

    SIX DAYS TO TURBT OP

It's six days til my op. My kidneys look clear on the ultrasound but I haven't heard about the CT scan results yet. I'm pretty calm about the op at the moment. We've had to put fifty pounds away for taxi after the op. At times like this I wish I'd learned to drive.

    Help

Not sure if I'm in the correct page. But here goes.

I have just started the 2nd part of my chemo I am on fec-t. I am really struggling it is now day 8 my whole body feels like it's been hit by a truck. I am emotional and very tearful. My son  wants to wrap me up in bubble wrap thinks I do too much. When I try to explain I need to and only do when I can he just gets upset and tells me I'm over doing it. I haven't been out of the house for 6 days now. I feel like a recluse. I'm not physically...

Chemo cycle #2, one week on

I didn't have as much actual sickness this time, although the nausea is still hanging around. What hit me most this time was the exhaustion, which I found depressing because I felt I wasn't coping as well as I expected - I have yet to learn that I must expect nothing with chemo!

I turned the corner yesterday afternoon, and found I had more energy. I had assumed to be able to manage fairly well with my 2 year old for the last few days, based on last cycle but until yesterday I really could...

    Hair loss

I have used the cold cap both cycles so far and found it not too unpleasant. It didn't give me a headache and the coldness wasn't too uncomfortable.

A week or so after cycle 1 I developed a tender scalp in places, kind of tingly. Approaching cycle 2 I did find a few tufts came out but when I washed my hair on the day of cycle 2 it was obviously coming out a lot faster than usual! Since then it has been coming out thick and fast and my pillow and clothes are covered with it. This morning...

    Chemo cycle #2

I took my aprepitant tablet an hour before the appointment as instructed. I was more nervous and emotional than I thought I would be going to the hospital. I think this was the reason I came close to passing out when they put the cannula in. I was OK last time but this time I felt faint, then my hearing went and my sight was blacking out... Several nurses came over and afterwards they said they had been worried because my blood pressure was so low they couldn't get a reading! They put my feet up...
