Couldn't think of a more appropriate title for today. It's been an odd day! I woke in a good mood, I'd enjoyed a nice weekend and am heading to see my old charges at the end of this week. So feeling pretty good!
Then I texted a few of my friends and they ALL without exception, were down in the dumps! I did my best to listen, offer advice and jolly them along. While working and trying to keep myself in a positive mood!
Then this afternoon I had an accident with an Elephant and decided...
I really, with all my heart and soul, don't want to be here. To ever have had to log in to this MacMillan site, google cancer support or suddenly be facing wig or bandana options when I should be thinking about chicken or turkey for Christmas dinner.
I found a lump in my armpit on 9 November. Christ, it's not small. How could I have missed it before? See, if you normally shower and keep your arm up and taut, nothing to feel. Thankfully I had a bath and was washing with my arm down and...
I am a divorced fifty-six year old with an estranged family, diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia AML in June 2014. Formerly a successful businessman with many years’ specialist knowledge gained in the mobile financial sector. In late 2013 and early 2014 I noticed that I was almost constantly exhausted, but put the problems down to hectic European and African schedule, which often meant I'd work during the week without proper rest or sleep.
Finally unable to function, I collapsed in my GP...
Hi all, I'm maria 38, during a routine ultra sound in my liver. ( for meds I take ) I have recently been told I have a 7x4x5 tumour on my left kidney arising from the upper pole! This has come as a massive shock! Awaiting my scan which is next sun ( long wait but still within the urgent 2wk period ) and urgent referrals to hosp! It seems like a life time away! I don't know how I will get through it! I have support off family etc but I live alone with my two children and it's going to be so hard to...
I am 43 years old and was diagnosed with CLL just over 2 years ago. Last week my consultant decided it was time to start treatment.
I feel good at the moment and have been living a pretty normal life for the last couple of years. My only symptoms have been higher blood count and a large number of lymph nodes visible, in my neck, groin and under my arms. I’m a wee bit more tired these days too.
Consultant says I’ve done well to last this long as he says younger patients like me tend...
i have struggled a little over whether or not it's appropriate to write this! But it's something that is affecting me at this moment and I need to get it out!
I had a weird day a few weeks back when I 'realised' that my friend who has advanced secondaries, won't be around forever! We have become very close over the last year, we have visited each other and shared lots of laughs! So the thought of losing her really hurts!
Then I started thinking, like you do! One day, hopefully...
Hello all - I'm new to this site but have read a few blogs pertinent to my own bc problems regarding side effects from Letrozole.
I first had bc (DCIS) in 1999. Treatment was lumpectomy and radiation.
2013, second diagnosis, primary, st 1, grade 2, no spread - lumpectomy and radiation , Arimidex (side effects so changed to Letrozole).
2015, third diagnosis, primary in same breast as original DCIS, mastectomy, Tamoxifen - affected kidneys so put back on Letrozole.
In the past 12...
Hello everyone. This is Andy here. As promised, I am going to attempt to finish off Nat's blog as best I can. The first thing I should say is that Nat was hopeless with bookmarks, and it's taken me ages to even find the page...
I have found the following short draft, which I'm guessing was written on 22nd October. It was the twins birthday on the 20th, and Nat had booked herself in to the hospice on the 16th for a few days to try and get her pain management under control.
"Happy Sunday...
I had the lump removed and a sentinel node biopsy yesterday. I went in at 7.30 am. I was taken down for radioactive injection in the morning. It was a little painful as radiologist explained it was going between layers of skin. I read a book and listened to music. I got so hungry because I hadn't eaten since the night before. I went to theatre at 3.30pm and back on ward around 6. I woke up in a lot of pain but was given painkillers. I was home by 8.30pm wearing very glamorous compression...
