Post 558: Binge watching the tv but signs are good for Mrs U.

Another day and not much to report except that my Darling has passed the worst of the cold and is improving. Not enough to be worrying about going out and about yet but looking brighter and her voice is coming back.

We hope to be clear of colds by Friday so we can have dinner with Big Sis, who’s invited us over for a mushroom something or other; which I’m sure will be fab.

The Christmas gifts and decorations are well and truly in your line of sight and the garden centres are full of lovely things that glitter and light up your hearts unless you’re a Scrooge and it’s all to much. Big Sis works in a homeware and garden centre and the the beginning of October is the start of the glitter selling with last years stock on discount then weekly there’s more stuff until there’s no more room for anything else. They have two strapping sheep on offer for I think £300 but only the biggest house or the most fabulous garden would they look good in, but who knows what’ll sell.

I love Christmas as some of you will know but I didn’t look for a Christmas Film channel till today. ‘Great! Christmas’ is now up and running for sure and I’ve started to record a few (so I can whizz passed the ads all the way through the cozy story of romance in the snow, usually. Who cares I love a film that lifts my boring life in my chair and takes me out into the cold, unless it’s a Californian one with fake snow made out of sheets and sheets of cotton wool ha ha. I can’t take those fake snow films and try to avoid them but there’s so many on every day there’s another one in an hour and a half anyway.

My Darling came down before midday today after three long days in bed. She’s been hard at work ordering Christmas present stuff of the tinternet for everyone which leads to the door bell ringing at all times of the day, where on opening the door there no one to be seen but there’s a white van revving just in sight heading for the next stop on their delivery circuit and leaving the parcel on the step outside the door.

I should put a note on the door saying can you please wait for me to get to the door where you can hand me the delivered parcel or packet so I don’t have to struggle to lift the said parcel off the ground, I can’t bend down that far, thanks.

But I guess that’s wouldn’t change anything and their tearing in and out their vans and up the ten strides to my door is too much for them to wait for anyone except the sprinters amongst us who can catch the buggers placing the post in the door step.

Moan over.

So a ten part series we had watched and enjoyed the first episode of yesterday, we continued with today and without a murmur of disapproval, binged watch the other nine episodes. This took all day pretty-well but it was a fast paced action story with an interesting back story and enough to keep one interested the whole ten hours. We did squeeze in a lunch and dinner as well and a run to the front door to see that invisible delivery man or woman damn it. Ha ha.

As it happened I have been sleeping a little better in the last couple of days which might be the tv stories wearing me out ha ha, but I’ve also been snoozing in my chair when I get sleepy during the day. Perhaps it’s the pills. I do know that the radiotherapy side effects, if I’m soon to be on Radium 233 one sure side effect is that it makes you more sleepy, which will play havoc with my short day of work, but, and it’s a big but, do I go to work (where all the colds, flu’s & bugs are) or should I stay at home?

Other than the tiredness I don’t know that that there’s much else to worry about other than all the usual suspects and talking of new side effects I’ve just realised it could be that I’ve doubled the newish drug to me, the Duloxatine, which might be the cause of my tiredness. I wonder if it is?

I only doubled the dose these last few days when I’ve been more tired. It makes sense.

Blimey, with the Radium added it will be a dream. Literally a dream ha ha.

But in new news Ai will be diagnosing abdominal cancers in an all in one test.

Interesting.

Perhaps that’s a good idea, it’s a great use for the humble computer that when I were a lad was hardly thought of. I went through school without any new-fangled computers and look at me now. Ha ha, I can even use an app on a phone to tell people what I’m thinking about on a platform that is astonishing helpful to persons who are afflicted with an illness called cancer that bothers us each and every day but, together we survive by talking to each other and helping us to understand what’s happening to us both individually as the ones being treated and the ones caring for us, the treated.

I’m in awe of what can happen on this MacMillan website that is inclusive and grounded in the facts we all need to help us understand what’s happening but also bring people together in a way that could never happen any other way. Meeting a MacMillan Champion is a byproduct of my use of this site and a welcome aid to my medical situation. I feel lucky to have met Brian and know he got everybody’s back. All the Champions do a remarkable job as volunteers and I’d just like to say thanks.

Thank you MacMillan and thank you Champions too.

Lastly my back is getting better each day I’m sitting down all day and with the double dose of Duloxetine so I’m pleased to say I’m more comfortable day than I have in months. I just hope these little improvements keep coming and then I’ll be super fit for the radiation treatment I’m likely to get soon.

Thanks for reading.

Take care.

(A reply for readers of yesterdays blog)

I was the luckiest young lad to be set up with my Darling as a blind date and immediately we were like magnets you couldn’t separate. The love I share with my Darling is shared with you and all the readers of my blog and sometimes when I’m down I can rely on your love shining back at me and my Darling. Love is a two way relationship, we give and receive and it’s so easy to be unloving but it’s the richest medicine to have the love of another.

I love you all xx
