Well, it's February 2018 and the decision (back in September) about what surgery to have went in favour of the simpler eye removal op. The technical term is "evisceration" which means removing the innards, e.g. when gutting a fish. Sounds lovely, doesn't it?
I had the eye op in November, stayed overnight and was pleased to be back to relatively normal within a week. They gave me a temporary eye disk but it wouldn't stay in because of the bulginess of the whole area around the eye...
I have decided on this title as the 'the gift' as I got up this morning, felt fine, had a good nights sleep etc. and pondered (with my 1st coffee) this is not too bad, had a couple of really bad days, a few not so bad so all in all getting there.
BOOM ....... an hour later I felt as though I had been knocked into next week. I felt awful, flu like symptoms all over my body and absolutely no energy. I had an oncologist appointment today (my first since treatment started) and really could not...
The last few days have been busy with appointments, oncologist, ct scan, dentist, optician........oh and dinner with good friends and my lovely husband.
My daughter who usually spends the weekend with her boyfriend came home last night, don't usually see her until a monday night, but it was good to go to bed knowing she was under the roof. My husband said she is fine with everything, but then he says that he is fine too - good job I am not as silly as the obviously think I am! We (me and...
Feeling depressed tonight and really don' want to live a life with my mum not in it she is my best friend and we are 2 peas in a pod. She has stage 4 cancer they think womb but test still on going and is in lining of the lung she is 72 well 73 next month. The doctors say it' treatable but not curable. They are taking ages to pinpoint what cancer and longer it' being missed the longer not being treated and will go terminal .
When the time come and mum' no longer here I really don...
I’m sad all the time. Not depressed but pissed and confused. I want my mom back and I learned my family is useless and I feel so lost and lonely. I’m a grown adult and I hate myself for feeling this way.
My beautiful mum has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer a complete shock and has come completely out of the blue. Doctors think it's womb cancer and has gone to the lining of her lung but tests are still on going. Mum had no symptoms atall until too late she's been bleeding for 10 weeks from her cervix but by the time she had this symptom she was stage 4 before this she had none! Het doctor told her 2 months ago she didn't have cancer and she would know if she did! My mum is 72 and if she makes it...
So it’s now week 13 since I had whipple surgery and everything is going ok. The reason for this was ampulla cancer which they successfully removed, however i’ On my third week of chemotherapy (as a precaution). The first week apart from feeling a little sick I felt ok, but it’s taken me a lot longer to feel better after the 2nd time. Is this normal? Am I going to feel worse each week? Most of the time physically and emotionally I feel ok but other days I feel really low? I know I should feel lucky...
Valentine’s Day five years ago my husband was admitted to hospital with multiple myeloma. Thanks to private health everything was done immediately. Paraprotein levels were through the roof. Luckily no bone or organ damage. C was put on Velcade but after a few cycles had to stop as the peripheral neuropathy was so bad he couldn’t walk ( not everyone gets this). After a couple of months break to recover he started Revlimid. It worked a treat and paraproteins went down to about 4. Transplant was offered...
I started this Blog thinking that photos of my skin graft might help others see how a typical graft develops and heals over time. I'm currently not convinced mine is 'typical' - maybe none are.
My visit to the hospital for the histology appt was really disappointing. The 'consultant' (he wasn't actually the consultant, just someone in his team), was running 45 minutes late. My meeting with him was perfunctory - he told me nothing about the histology of the BCC that was removed, though...
