Chemo Cycle 6 Starts - The Beginning of the End!

Finally Sal's 6th and final chemo cycle has arrived. She had the treatment this morning and as it has been on all 6 cycles there was no reaction at all during treatment.

She is in bed now though because again, as with the previous cycles, she gets very tired very quickly and this combined with her getting very little sleep last night from the steroids she is completely shattered.

We have agreed that her Hickman line will remain in for at least 4 weeks while she recoveres from this cycle just...

My Reluctant Journey - at last!

I don't know what is the matter with me but I have found it so hard to even write about my Cancer.  Me and My Cancer!  My Cancer and I!  Which ever way I look at it, it is still with me and almost not a part of me.  Although IT IS and this is why I have been trying to ignore it.

Everything seems to take so long but finally I go to Theatre tomorrow (5th Aug.) for a biopsy on both kidneys.  My Consultant,  Mr Solomon has already told me that I have to have one kidney removed and the other kidney has...

There can be miracles...when you believe???

I have to get up early tomorrow for a trip to the hospital for my CT scan.  The appointment is at 9.15 but I will have to get up before 8 so I can drink the Gastrografin in preperation for the scan.  For anyone who hasnt tasted this (you are very lucky) it tastes of watery aniseed and I hate it. It reminds me of Sambuca and thats not pleasant first thing in the morning.  I have to mix the gastro with a pint of cold water and sip one cupful every 15 minutes until its all gone.

    If you look back through...

    Update on my Caelyx journey

I just realised l had not finished with my updates so here goes.

I when on and had 6 sessions of Caelyx and then another Ct scan and then my oncologist didn' twant to see me for three months.

When l did see my Oncologist the news was not as good as hoped. My CA125 had gone down to 135 not under 35 as l had hoped. My Ct scan showed no changes.

What it boils down to is l could (should) be having chemo but because my cancer is slow growing and l am well and in no pain he wants to leave the chemo...

3rd Cycle of Chemo is here

To see this blog as it is intended please visit http://mumslungcancer.blogspot.com

How fast is this coming around? We are up to the 3rd cycle of chemo already, I think they have scheduled 6 in total, then a blast of radio therapy on the brain, as a safe guard measure as is likely to spread there next. I have brought my computer and am typing this while we are here! Up to now they have put her arms in water to make her veins more visable and also suggested that she has a top up of blood when she...

Riding the bus is so very hard...........

As a non cancer person (at least up to now!) I thought I'd write something about a very good friend of mine who I learnt this morning has lost her struggle against cancer.

Linda MacVev is a lovely lady and I count it very much a privelage to know her, even though she lost her battle last month she is and always will be a 'present-tense' person because she is in my memory and always will be.

I cried so hard for her this morning again, and it made me think of the one's riding the bus...
