Update on my Caelyx journey

Less than one minute read time.

I just realised l had not finished with my updates so here goes.

I when on and had 6 sessions of Caelyx and then another Ct scan and then my oncologist didn' twant to see me for three months.

When l did see my Oncologist the news was not as good as hoped. My CA125 had gone down to 135 not under 35 as l had hoped. My Ct scan showed no changes.

What it boils down to is l could (should) be having chemo but because my cancer is slow growing and l am well and in no pain he wants to leave the chemo for a while.

He has told me that he has another two chemos to give me then unless a new one appears then l will have no further treatment. So l am just carring on regardless.

Love Rosie xx

    Hi Rosie,

I'm sorry the results with Caelyx were not as good as you had hoped. Caelyx did not work for me and it was stopped after three cycles. I also had a nasty rash and my hands and feet developed itchy blisters. My onc said that he would be happy for me to be off chemo for a while as I was feeling generally well but said the choice was mine and I could opt to try Tamoxifen or carbo/taxol again but this time every week instead of once every three weeks. I chose the carbo/taxol and have just finished the first of six cycles.

For me , it didn't feel right to go without treatment at this time but you know how you feel and I am sure you will have regular checkups and discuss your options .

As you say, we will  carry on regardless and I wish you all the very best with whatever is decided.

                     Take care and feel well,

                                Love lizzie xx

Hi Carol, my hands and feet were not too bad just went dry but l had rashes all over the Ea5 is the best thing ans use loads. My Onc prescribed it for me you get a big bottle then.Have they given you some gel packs that you put in the fridge. I didnt use them but you might find them useful.

The worst thing for me was the constipation that was the worst l have ever been. I was not drinking enough for one thing.

I hope all goes well for you. I always read your blogs. I am so sorry that things at home are not good for you at the moment.

    Love Rosie

Hi Lizzie, yes we must carry on regardless. My onc has not mentioned going back onto carbo and taxol proabley because l have had three rounds of that previously and it had stopped working. My cancer is slow growing so l am content to wait for a bit. How did your carbo taxol go this time with it being every week?

I hope all goes well for you Lizzie
