    those cancer days

just another wet and windy day, but wait its not just a normal day its another day i'm alive!!

Its been about 4 months now since they said the words " its back and its incurable",  at first there was shock, grief and of course the ever present pain, then there was the familys reaction, i have five grown-up kids and they all reacted differently, the eldest wanted definitive answers, the second took it upon herself to be my rock, the third was very upset, the fourth couldn't speak to...

    dread

well my pops had another bad day today, he broke down telling me how scared he is. It took all my courage to be strong for him and not cry infront of him. We had a good talk and i talked him back into being positive again. I know things arnt looking positive or so other family members keep telling me but im NOT GIVING UP. I have fought this long and im not letting him go without a fight even if it kills me. Hope is all i have left now and it seems the only thing that is keeping me going. I hate what...

    Hey...not done this before

Well as the title says I've not done this before but I thought I'd give it a go.

I've been a member of this site for some while now, I joined whilst I was going through treatment, I did however find it hard to be on here at times, I guess it reminded me that sometimes it doesn't all work out, and at the time I was feeling very low. However, I am pleased to say that I'm not feeling so low now, I've been in remission for a whole three months.

Being is remission is great, the...

    My Dad..... has it returned

Hi, late last year my dad was diagnosed with urachal cancer and had an operation to remove his bladder but with no chemo or radio.  I wanted to know what stage etc. the cancer was at however, mum and dad did not.

Dad is now having trouble with his stomach.  Pains, reflux, upset stomach etc. and I am so afraid its returned.  Dad only has to have sneeze and we all worry so much.  I know, when looking at him, he is thinking the same as us and we are all slowly going mad.  Does this ever get any better or...

    Ovarian Carcinoid Cancer - Continued

Well, it was results day yesterday, and I got a mixed bag really.

There is no further evidence of carcinoid in my ovary which is brilliant, I may be able to save them now!! But they have found (in the preliminary report) a mild but definite uptake in the Caecum, which is near the appendix. This may be the primary source.

This means, next step colonoscopy and another follow up!

I think on the whole this is good news, it would appear that it hasnt got anywhere too serious...

Love you mum, will miss you everyday

My mum sadly passed away this morning at 4.30 am with her 3 children around her.  She was very brave towards the end I'm I'm so releived she is finally at peace.  My mum was only 53 and was first told she has cancer only 11 months ago so this has been a devastating journey for us all.

I have used this site for the past 5 months and it has helped me no end and could never have got through this terrible time without this site and the people on it.

Will love you and miss you forever Mum, your...

    Counselling Week 2

I felt a little more uneasy this week, because I felt like I had to keep talking for an hour.  I don't know, it just felt weird to keep going on about my feelings, thoughts, worries and felt like I was going round in a circle, continually asking unanswered questions. There is very little input from the counsellor and it often feels like I'm talking to myself.

The counselling is good for exploring my feelings more deeply, but it's almost as if I can't see where this is going.  I told...

How do people deal with it?

I frequent various blogs and forums and I've been struck by the different ways people use to cope with their problem. The most extreme seems to be those (both patients and relatives) who completely deny or ignore the problem. There are quite a few who have a close relative that refuses to acknowledge and certainly will not discuss the problem.

This got me thinking about how I am dealing with it and I realised that I am the complete opposite.

When a young close relative was diagnosed with cancer...
