    Predator - poem
    Predator

The dreaded C word everyone fears
Laying in wait, like a preying tiger
Anticipating the perfect moment to pounce
It has you sight, you have no escape
    Fear, shock, disbelief take over
A wave of emotions crash down on you
Further and further you sink, down and down
*THUD* that’s the sounds of rock bottom

The tiger is strong, BOLD, and mean
Ready to begin the chase, the game
You are the prey and it wants you
Run, quick, you have to play the game
    A lowly animal against...

    PHEW!

    Hi all,

It has been a bit of a nervous wait for my consultant appointment. Although I try to stay positive i wasn't too sure if the recent lot of chemo had made a real difference. However, I am glad to say that the cancer has been greatly reduced, it does not affect any organs and the CA125 is 19. PHEW!  I am feeling well and do not need any more treatment at present but I will have a checkup and blood test every two months. My consultant had already told me that they are looking to control...

    Kidney Cancer - D-Day +13

Hi all -  time for an 'emotions' update.  Weeks ago, before my diagnosis, a colleague of my partner invited us to a Mexican themed get-together at her house.  I had even bought a 'chilli pepper' outfit for the event (everyone else went as a Mexican Bandit).  Come Saturday, the day of the event, I was completely torn about whether or not to turn up.   I half wanted to go because it was a chance to forget everything, and yet I knew that there would obviously be questions which might ultimately...

    6 months later.

I dont believe it!  I've been so busy that 6 months have flown by without me noticing.

Mum is still alive and kicking.  She recovered well from her heart attack last August but mentally and emotionally it did take its toll on her.

I'm half way through my college course (Complementary therapies, Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology)  which I'm enjoying and hating at the same time.  My brain cells are so slow that any assignment that should take 6 hours usually takes me about 3 full days. I...

5 weeks since surgery to remove melanoma from my foot.

Having been diagnosed with melanoma back in November last year, I have since been to theatre twice.  The first time was 24/12/10 as a day case to have the majority of the cancer removed and then I had to go back on 14/01/11 to have the rest of the surgery completed.  It was done in two parts due to it being close to Christmas.

The surgery was more extensive than I had expected.  The melanoma which was greater than 10mm was removed and then a further 3cm of good skin was removed from around where the...

    here at last

Well, spent ages trying to work out how to actually write a message on here.

Since I signed up to the online community I spent 3 days in hospital with neutropaenic sepsis following my first chemo treatment (Taxatere), so now am apprehensive about second treatment on Friday.  I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in June 2010, almost 10 years since the first time.  One largeish tumour in a lymph node on my neck was zapped with radiotherapy, other smaller ones in lymph nodes and bones treated...

    a week on....

Firstly - thank you to all of you for your kind words and support on my last post - did make me shed a tear but in a good way.

Well its just over a week since Mum died and things are just ticking on....nothing seems real and i'm bored of all the paper work.  Mums funeral isn't until the beginning of March due to a back log at the local crem so got to wait until i can finally say goodbye. I'm planning on going back to work after half term, get myself back into my normal routine as if i avoid it...
