  • Who is going to be proved right.... me or my pesimistic boyfriend?
    The story so far!!!

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of this year, after being refered for an enlarged lymph node I had a biopsy and the lymph node contained cancer cells.  I was then advised to have all the lymph nodes removed from my left arm and a mastectomy of my left breast followed by 6 months chemotherapy.  My boyfriend was devastated and could not understand how I made the decision to have a mastectomy without a second thought (his words) he predicted that I would be laid up in bed for weeks afterwards...

  • Infusion bottle off!
    Two weeks off!

Wow!! infusion bottle of ifosfomide came off today after two weeks and now hubby has two weeks off before starting the next round.  A great step forward although he is not feeling good at all.

He is very, very tired and extremely grumpy and irritable - I have to sidestep his remarks, which under normal circumstances would deserve a response - I am now having to ignore the nasty remarks or sarcasm and I am attributing it all to the chemo.

The doctor at the hospital talked of chemo head - and I found...

  • Secondary brain tumours, still running and Strictly 2012
    Goals for this year

Had a pretty tough 6 months. Shortly after the Marathon I was devastatingly diagnosed with secondary brain tumours (having symptoms before and during the marathon). Radiotherapy to my brain happened in June and thankfully scans in august showed that I responded well to that treatment, and the tumours had significantly diminished in size. Hopefully the next scans in dec will confirm that. I had further radiotherapy about a month ago to an area that they were uncertain about in May' but which did turn...

    End of Round 1 ....

This last few weeks have been hell. A real mixture of emotions, and I start to cry at times I'm least expecting it. Crying like a baby, my poor hubby doesn't know how to react. I even cry at Eastenders at the moment with the chemo story going on.

My Dad has just finished round 1 of his chemo. He's gone to the Marsden today to have his "bottle" disconnected. What a rollercoaster of emotions for everyone this last two weeks have been. I've watched him slowly look more ill, sometimes even yellow...

  • Think the end is near for my mum
    Just been looking after mum

I have just been to look after my mum, i live in the midlands and she lives in my hometown Bristol. Mum was diagnosed about 3 years ago and had had numerous treatments but the cancer has spread and she was given a few monthes to live a few monthes ago. Throughout the illness she has been so strong and possitive and just got on with everything you wouldnt have guessed she had cancer! But over the last month she was told it had also spread to her bones and shortly after that she was very ill and in...

  • For The Love Of Gordy - A Sister's Story
Rainy Days and Wednesdays Always Get Me Down...

If I'd thought of the song I'd have used it on Monday but didn't so Wednesday will have to do!  Actually this is another big fat lie because today is not too bad a day apart from the fact that it's still raining!

Dougy's results from JCH and GP are not that bad at all.  Not brilliant but not that bad. It seems he doesn't have bleeding ulcers or the nasty 'C' word!  BIG HURRAHS!!!!!!!!!  The blood and painful looking gut was caused by them taking so many biopsies or so...

  • Getting more diffcult!!
First round of chemo coming to the end!

This has been such a difficult two weeks - tomorrow the line is removed from the portacath and then hubby gets two weeks off before next session starts.

I look at him and he is running on willpower - he went to work today after taking a couple of days off because he was so very tired and nauseous.  He is just so exhausted but said he just cannot give in to it and must get out rather than sit at home just being tired.

So far after the first two weeks, he still has his hair.  We went out and bought...

  • Bummer....!
this week I are mostly... had a headache.. can't imagine why :o)

Thought I ought to fill you in on the last few days before it becomes the mother of all blogs and you collapse from exhuastion not even half way through... not sure how funny it will be but lets take a turn aorund the lawn of Little My's last few days and see what happens along those perambulations... (Jane Austen just been unpacked)

So, last we heard, Little My  was on the naughty step, lying down not doing much. Well that lasted as long as it took me to write that blog. Sunday I did sort of...

  • Thankyou to all the blood donors out there!
Another day that I feel I am so lucky

My darling hubbie is still fighting and keeping positive every day. He has survived a lot longer then was expected. Even the consultants thinks he is amazing. I truly beleive it is the generuos gift of blood from all the faceless donors that have kept him going. A big thankyou to them for allowing me more time with my beloved.
